    The British Broadcasting Company, as the BBC was originally called, was formed on 18 October 1922 by a group of leading wireless manufacturers including Marconi. Daily broadcasting by the BBC began in Marconi’s London studio, 2LO, in the Strand, on November 14, 1922. John Reith, a 33-year-old Scottish engineer, was appointed General Manager of the BBC at the end of 1922.

    When Carter arrived Thebes, Egypt in 1891, he became convinced there was at least one undiscovered tomb–King Tut, who lived around 1400 B.C. and died when he was still a teenager. Carter searched for five years without success. February 16, 1923, under the watchful eyes of a number of important officials, Carter opened the door to the last chamber. The perfectly preserved mummy was the most valuable, as it was the first one ever to be discovered.
