Founding of the Triple Entente
The Triple Entente was what they called the alliance between Russia, France, and Great Britain. It was named after they signed the Anglo-Russian Entente, which ended a long struggle for power that had not benefited the lesser-developed regions throughout Central Asia. They made agreements with the United States, Spain, Brazil, Portugal, and Japan to go with the Triple Entente. -
Founding of the Triple Alliance (Central Powers)
The Central Powers was just one of two sides that was in World War 1. The Central Powers is also known as the Triple Alliance. It was composed of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Ottoman Empire, German Empire, and the Kingdom of Bulgaria. -
Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand
Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, was shot dead in Sarajevo. Gavrilo Princip, one of six assassins, was the only one whose bullet pierced him. The assassins, some of the members of the clandestine tunnel, and the main Serbian military conspirators who had lived from the incident were arrested by officers, tired by a judge in a trial, convicted, and then punished. -

The Battle of the Marne was a victory against the German Army. The counterattack of six of the French armies and just one of the British Armies along the Marne River in France made the German Imperial Army leave its push in Paris and turn back in the direction of northeast. -
Sinking of the Lusitania
The Lusitania had the misfortunate position of being the victim of a torpedo attack early in World War 1. Lusitania had 1,959 on the last voyage, 1,265 passengers and 694 crew members were aboard. Out of the 1,959 people aboard, only 840 survived. The total death count was 1,119. -
Battle of Verdun
The Battle of Verdun was fought between the French and German armies on a hill north of the city of Verdun-sur-Meuse. It had 306,000 battlefield deaths, 163,000 of them were French and 143,000 German combatants. At least half a million were wounded. -

The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was a peace treaty signed by Russia and the Central Powers. The treaty was helped by a little relief to the Bolsheviks. They were in the middle of fighting the Russian Civil War. It also made the independence of Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Belarus, Lithuania, and Ukraine actually affirmed. -

The 2nd Battle of the Marne was the last big Spring Offensive during World War 1. It was a failed attack by the Germans because a counteroffensive made by the French and Americans was too much for the Germans. -

The armistice between the Allies and Germany ended the fighting in World War 1. It was signed in a train and it marked a victory for the Allies and a defeat for Germany.
