    The Second Sino-Japanese War was a military conflict fought primarily between The Republic of China and the Empire of Japan. The conflict broke out when China began full-scale resistance to the expansion of Japanese in its territory. To unseat the Nationalist government of Chiang Kai-shek, the Japanese occupied large areas of eastern China. A stalemate (tie or draw) was taken place and Japanese forces were diverted to Southeast Asia and to the Pacific theatre of WW2 against the Western powers.

    December 7, 1941. Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor. The attack lasted 2 hours, but it was devastating. Nearly 20 American naval vessels, eight battleships, and more than 300 airplanes.     A meeting of senior officials of Nazi Germany,held in the Berlin suburb of Wannsee. Herman Goering had ordered Reinhard Heydrich to submit a plan for carrying out the desired final solution of the Jews. Heydrich met with Adolf Eichmann and 15 other officials from various Nazi ministries and organizations at Wannsee. Their agenda was to find the solution. Heydrich proposed to send the Jews to concentration camps in Poland and working them to death. This seemed to be the solution.

    A massive British and American landing in Normandy against the Germans who occupy the country. U.S. forces faced heavy resistance at Omaha Beach, where there were over 2,000 American casualties. By the end of the day, approximately 156,000 American troops had successfully stormed Normandy’s beaches. Less than a week later, the beaches were fully secured and over 326,000 troops, 50,000 vehicles, and some 100,000 tons of equipment had landed at Normandy.

Some historians, say the other objective was to show the Soviet Union a new weapon of mass destruction.
