    Black Tuesday, the end of the "Roaring 20's." This is the begining of the Great Depression and one of the causes of WWII. So many people lost their jobs. The Americans got scared and started pulling all their money out of the European countries so they went down too. This effected the whole world.

We still reconize that date today as the day that Pearl Harbor, Hawaii was attacked and the date that the U.S. entered World War II. Japan only attacked beacause the U.S. stopped trading with Japan because of the Manchirian Railway Crisis.

    This battle lasted for 4 days. It was the very first air- sea battle in history! This was fought between the Allies and Japan. The Allies damaged Japan's air crafts so Japan had to turn back meaning that the Allies were victorious.

    Fought about 6 months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Battle of Midway ended further threat of Japanese invasions. This battle lasted for 3 days. It was fought almost entirely with aircrafts. This is where demolished Japan's best line of naval defence. The battle was faought because after the battle at Coral Sea, Japan had been trying to take over the Midway Island.

    D-Day
    The only way to get past the French land controlled by Germany (the Normady beaches) was to go by sea. There were more than 5,000 ships and 11,000 aircrafts all full to the brim with Allied soldiers. By the end of the day, over 156,000 Allied soldiers had stormed the Normady beaches successfully. They had finally liberated Paris by the end of August 1944, and the Germans were out of nothwesten France.

    This day is known as Victory in Europe day. It was on this day that the Nazis were defeated! Yay! However, this was not the end of WWII. Japan was still alive and kickin'!

    This is the first time an atomic bomb has ever been dropped. It was built by the United States of America under the code name, the Manhattan Project. "Little Boy" (the atomic bomb) was dropped from a B-29 bomber named Enola Gay. When "Little Boy" was dropped, it missed its original target by 800 feet when it exploded about 1,900 feet above the city. Its target was the Aioi Bridge.

    This is the second atomic bombing on Japan. This new bomb aka "Fat Man" was dropped by another B29 bomber called Bockscar.

    The V-J stands for Victory over Japan. This is the day that Japan finally surrendered to the Allies and signed a treaty. The actual signing of the treaty wasn't until September 2 of that same year. That is why this is not known as the official end of WWII.

    This was such a happy time for the Allies. The war ended six years and one day after it started. The Allies (Great Britain, U.S., France, USSR, and many more) finally conquered the Axis Powers (Germany, Italy, Japan, and more).
