    Canada Declares War on Germany
    Canada declared war on germany, shortly after the United Kingdom but, to prove that they were not a part of the UK they decided to make sure Canadian parliment would approve the declaration of war. Over the course of the war 1.1million Canadians would serve in the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

    The U.S.A. stopped all imports to Japan, which made the Japanese very angry. The Japanese, consumed with rage decided to attack! They got attacked by 353 Japanese fighters, bombers, and torpedo planes.

    In November 1941 Canadians 1,975 soldiers to Hong kong to assist in defending it from Japan. Japanese soldiers an army of 50, 000 captured Hong Kong in a matter of days. Canadians surrendered on Christmas morning.

    Invasion Of Dieppe
    On August 19th, 1942 Operation Jubilee, also known as Operation Rutter, Battle of Dieppe, or The Dieppe Raid. The raid began at 5:00 am on that Wensday, and by 10:50am that same day the Allies were forced to call a retreat. The raid proved to be a complete failure, and Winston Churchill himslef approved it for many reasons. He said it "would test the enemies defences." Which it did, and proved they were ready. -Cleo

    The Battle of Ortona was a small battle that took place in a small Adriatic seatown. the battle was dubbed "Little Stalingrad" because of it's deadliness and close quarter fighting. The Town of Orrtona's peactime population is 10,000.

    D-Day
    On Tuesday June 6th at 6:30am 160,000 allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy, France. They came to fight the nazi Germans. Expecting a great sucess, more than 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircrafts helped with the invasion. By the end of the invasion the Allies gained one foot of land. But the land came at a price, more than 9,000 Allied soilders killed or wounded. -Cleo

    Hitler Commits Suicide
    He commited suicide by gunshot in Führerbunker Berlin on April 30th 1945. His wife Eva commited suicide with him that afternoon by eating a cyanide capsule. A cyanide capsule is a capsule filled with a highly toxic salts. If one ingests a cyanide capsule, you will die. -Cleo

    It ended with the capture of the city of Berlin, and Hitler commiting suicide and germany surrendering after their second big loss. Dates: The Germans left Finland and retreated to Norway on April 25th 1945. Mussolini's death took place on April 27th 1945 after the Allies closed in on Milan he was captured by Italian partisans. (Pro-Allied Italians.)

    On August 6th, 1945 the atomic bomb (Little Boy) was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan. 90.00-166,00 were estimated dead in Hiroshima, approximately half of these deaths occuring on the first day. Six days after the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki japan surrendered.

    The Japanese Navy was defeated by atomic bombs, dropped on the cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki. On April 6th the American troops dropped "little Boy" on the city of Hiroshima causing devisation. Shortly after on April 9th they dropped "Fat Man" over Nagasaki. -Cleo
