    The Japanese invasion of China is known as the Second Sino-Japanese War. This was fought between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan. Some would say that this is the war that started WW2. A shot broke out between china and japan that started the war. Nobody knows who shot the first fire, but this event is what started the war. This resulted in debt toward Japan.

    Rape of Nanking
    The Nanking Massacre was an episode of mass murder and mass rape committed by Japanese troops against the residents of Nanjing (then spelled Nanking), then the capital of the Republic of China during the Second Sino-Japanese War. Japan did this because they wanted to gain control of China and spread their rain. Hundreds of thousands of people died and it took the city years and years to rebuild. There is still anger and disagreement about it today.

    Germany's Invasion of Poland
    Germany invaded Poland bombarding them with bombing from land and air. After they took out their defenses and communications, German sent in thousands of troops. Germany then set up a defence around Poland to help them protect what they have won. German did this to take back their past land and to start their great plan to become the leaders of the world. The invasion led to the British bombing Germany 3 days later. Poland’s population also struggled to survive.

    Germany entered Paris and started taking over the city after dark one night. British Prime Minister Winston Churchill convinced the French government to not sue for peace. He thought the US was going to come save them. The US offered to send material aid over but they didn’t want to send trooped over. By the time the US sent over material aid Germany had already taken over the city and millions of Paris citizens had fled. Germany did this to gain control of Paris and eventually France.

    Pearl Harbor
    Pearl Harbor was the event that got America involved in WW2. On December 2, Hundreds of Japanese fighter jets and submarines attacked the naval base in Honolulu Hawaii. Destroying ships and battleships that were parked at the base, and hundreds killed. American and Japan had been fighting for a few years, and after we cut off trading and resources to Japan for building china. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, America declared war on Japan, entering WW2.

    Battle of Midway
    The Battle of Midway was America's way of getting back at Japan for Pearl Harbor. It was a deadly and precise naval attack. Japan still wanted to destroy the aircraft carriers that had survived Pearl Harbor in the Pacific. Japan was planning on attacking us, and meeting us unexpectedly in the middle of the ocean, but new technology allowed America to break their codes, and counter the attack. The attack was a turning point in the war and declaring who was the strongest forces.

    Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
    A Ghetto was a secure wall made of bricks stacked 10 feet high and on the top of the wall was barb wire. Warsaw was just the city the ghetto was in. About several hundred resistance fighters in Warsaw, with small weapons were able to fight the Germans.After this the Germans began to raise the ghetto walls and destroy any bunkers where residents could be hiding. In the process of destroying their bunkers, Germans killed and captured thousands of Jews.

    The invasion was lead by General Sir Harold Alexander and the 15th Army Group. Landing on Italy was shortly after the successful invasion of Sicily. All the allies sent troops to the mainland over a series of weeks from points around Italy. Italy secretly agreed to surrender before they announced it to the public. By the time Italy surrendered there were 150,000 troops that were on the mainland. This was the start of allies winning the war and the rebuilding of Europe.

    D- Day is thought to be one one the deadliest battles in history, killing about 156,000 people. Killed almost as soon as you set foot on Omaha beach, shots were coming from every angle, there were also bombs buried in the sand that would randomly explode. Known as the “beginning of the end for Nazi Germany”, it brought attention to what was happening in Germany, and lead to the Liberation of the concentration camps in the long run.

    After stumbling upon the concentration camps moving across Europe, what they found was horrifying. Soviet forces were the first ones to approach a Nazi camp in Poland. The Soviets are credited with liberating Auschwitz, the largest killing camp in January 1945. The consentration camps across europe where being liberatied. The liberation of Concentration camps lead to the finding and take down of Hitler, who played a large role in WW2.
  • Operation Thunderclap

    Operation Thunderclap
    Is a code for a canceled operation planned in August 1944 that was never applied. The plan was to have a massive attack on Berlin in the hopes that it would cause about 200,000 casualties and 100,000 killed, but they later realized that this couldn’t work. The plan was brought up again later in early 1945 to be applied in coordination with a Soviet advance but was rejected again as not practical.

    The Battle of the bulge was the last major german offensive of world war two. It was launched through the dense forest region of wallonia in belgium, France. 250,000 german soldiers vs 80,000 americans. The Battle of the Bulge was an offensive attack from the germans, they had created a bulge in the allied front lines. The Impact of the event was that it brought the end to the german army and the nazi reign.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    The Americans invaded iwo jima during world war two, around 70,000 us marines took place in this battle while 18,000 japanese soldiers took part as well. The Americans needed the base near the japanese coast which is why the battle took place. The effects of the war were catastrophic with about 26,000 casualties, around 6,800 servicemen died on the battle fo iwo jima.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    The battle of Okinawa was also known as Operation iceberg. It was the largest landing in the pacific theater of world war two. Also resulted in the most casualties with over 100,000 Japanese casualties and 50,000 allied casualties. The plan was to capture Okinawa but it was a three-point plan for the Americans. The Americans wishes to destroy what was left of japan's merchant fleet and use airstrips in the region to launch bombing raids on japan's industrial heartland.

    VE day means Victory in Europe day. Great Britain and the United States celebrate this day. On this day German troops all throughout Europe put down their firearms. After this there were documents being signed in Berlin and in Eastern Germany. German soldiers wanted to avoid being in the hands of the Soviet forces and keep from being a prisoner.

    Dropping of the Atomic Bombs
    On August 6th, a B-29 bomber dropped the world's first atomic bomb on Hiroshima Japan, killing 80,000 people. Three days later, a second bomb would be dropped on Nagasaki killing 40,000.After the bombing, Japan surrendered to WW2, and started to re-build. The bombs killed thousands instantly and destroyed 90% of the city. The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were what brought a nend to WW2, after the devastation caused, and harm to innocent people.
