    French premir Edouard Daladier and British prime minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich Agreement, which turned the Sudetenland over to Germany. They hoped it would end the wa, because Hitler said it would be his "last territorial demand."

    German troops marched into the rest of Czechoslovakia and proclained it as part of Hiltler's Third Reich.

    Stalin and Hitler signed a nonaggression pact. Facist Germany and communist Russia commited to never attack each other. The entire world was shocked by this event. Stalin and Hitler also signed a secret pact to divide Poland between them.

    German planes roared over Poland, German tanks raced across the Poland countryside, and German troops marched in. The Germans used a new fighting technique called blitzkrieg. This technique was based on speed and suprise which the Germans did very often in World War ll.

    After seeing what Germany had done to Poland, Britian and France finally started to act. On this day, Britian and France declared war on Germany.

    Hitler launched a suprise invasion on Denmark and Norway. Trying to seem reasonable, Hitler stated he did this in order "to protect [those countries'] freedom and independence." When in reality, Hitler planned to build bases along their coasts to strike at Great Britian.

    Hitler handed French officers his terms of surrender. Italy enterd the war on Germany's side and helped invade France. Italy invated from the south while Germany invaded from the north.

    Approximately 2,000 German planes ranged over Britian for two solid months every night. First they targeted airfeilds and aircrft, then the Germans targeted cities.
  • Royal Air Force

    Britians Royal Air Force (RAF) shot down over 185 German planes, losing only 26 aircrft at the time. German bombers continued to pound Britian's cities, while British pilots also bombed German cities.
