    Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assasinated while he was driving in his car with his wife in Sarajevo, Bosnia
  • Gernamy declares war on Rushia

    The spark for this event was the assasination of Archduke Ferdinand. This declaration was made by the german ambassador of St. Petersburg. This declaration was made because of an allience between Germany and Austria Hungary
  • Germany declares war on France

    This annoucement was made by Baron von Schoen, the German Ambassador to France,when he called to ask for his passports.
    He said that that French airplanes had flown over Germany and dropped bombs
  • The United Kingdom declares war on Germany

    The British gave Germany an ultimatum to get out of Belgium by August 3rd or they would have war. When Germany was not out of Belgium by midnight, the UK declared war on Germany

  • Zimmerman Telegram

    The Zimmerman Telegraph was a political telegraph from the German Forein Office proposing a military allience between Germany and Mexico in the event that the United States entered WW1 against Germany.
  • US declares war on Germany

    Woodrow Wilson wanted to "make the world safe for democracy".
    When Wilson heard of the Zimmerman Telegraph, he knew it was time to join the war.

  • Red Baron shot down

    Manfred von Richthofen was the star of WW1 air battles. He is said to have over 80 air to air victories. On april 21st, 1918, the "Red Baron" was shot down by enemy fire and died.
  • Treaty of Versailles officially ends WW1

    The Treaty of Versailles was one of the peace treaties at the end of WW1. It ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers. It was signed on June 28th, 1919, exactly 5 years after the assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
