Nazi German officals met in an official meeting in town of Wansee to make sure all parts of government were unsure about Jewish people. -

US surrender of the pennisula on the Phillipine island of Luzon to the Japanese. Phillipine troops forced to walk 65 miles to prison camps. -
Battle of Midway
Decisive Naval battle in the Pacific. Only 6 months after Pearl Harbor. The USA beat Japan and took a bid advantage in the war. -
Warsaaw Ghetto Uprising
Jewish resistance group and opposed Germanys final effort tp transport the final ghetto population to an exterminatrion camp. The resistance started when a ghetto didnt follow the orders of a SS officer. -
D-Day
It was the end of Hitlers dream of Nazi domination. England and the US sent in 5000 ships and 11000 airplanes to invade Normandy. There were 100000 casulties and 4000 deaths.

Liberation of concentration Camps
Soviet soldiers were first to liberate concentration camps. On Jan 27th they entered Auschwitz whitch was ine of the biggesf concentration camps and liberated it. -
Battle of the Bulge
Hitler wanted to split allied forces by surprise attacking Ardennes to Antwerp.It was called this because the shape of the allies way like a bulge. It was the costliest battle ever for the US with 100,000 casualties

Operation thunderclap
was code for a cancelled operation planned for the year before but never happened. the plan was to attack berlin and ended in 220,000 casualties. Many Germans died and this really hurt them in the war. -

US marines landed on a japanese island and captured the island. Controlling the entire island would give them control of 3 japanese air bases. -
Battle of Okinawa
AKA operation iceberg and included the largrst amphibious assultin the Pacific. It lasted 82 days. The fighting was though to be very feirce. -
VE day
It stands for victory in Europe day. It became a national holiday because it was the day Nazi germany surrendered to the allied forces. It ended the war because there was no more fighting.

Dropping of Atomic bombs
President Harry Truman wanted to invade Japan but was told that it wouldnt work so he decided to drop the first ever atomic bombs on Japan. It left the town blown to pieces and many deaths for humans. It also gave people horrible diseases for many generations from the radioactivness. -

Victory over Japan. This is when Japan surrendered to the rest of the world. It ended the war for the most part and made the non allies lose a lot of momentum.
