Battle of Britain
Battle of Britain was a bombing war between the British and German air forces. The Battle of Britain started officially on June 10 1940 when the Luftwaffe attacked a convoy of ships off Dover. The Battle of Britain was the first major campaign to be fought entirely by air forces, and was also the largest and most sustained aerial bombing campaign to that date. The Battle of Britain marked the first defeat of Hitler's military forces. -

This is when the Filipinos and Americans were forced to march 65 miles from Mariveles, on the southern end of the Bataan Peninsula, to San Fernando. Many died on the journey. The Battle of Iwo Jima was a major battle in which the United States Marine Corps landed on and eventually captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II It was the first major battle of World War II to take place on Japanese homeland. They invaded this area so fighter planes could take off when attacking Japan. There is a monument in the US for this battle. -
The Battle of Okinawa
The battle of Okinawa happened in April-June 1945. It was the largest landing in the Pacific theater of World War II. It is important also because it resulted in the largest casualties with over 100,000 Japanese casualties and 50,000 casualties for the Allies. The capture of Okinawa was part of a three-point plan the Americans had for winning the war in the Far East. -
