    Archduke Franz Ferdinand  is assinated
    Archduke Franz Ferdinand is assassinated by Gavrilo Princip. He was the Archduke of Austria and of Hungary at one time. Gavrilo Princip was a Serbian nationalist and assassinated Archduke Franz during a parade in Sarajevo, Bosnia. That event sparked WWI and Austria declared war on Hungary.

    A German U-Boat sinks the Lusitania a British passenger liner off of the Irish coast. The ship sank in 18 minutes and drowned 1,201 people including 128 Americans.
