  • "The Spark"

    Archduke Franz Ferdinand was murdered by Gavrilo Princip, a Bosnian Serb nationalist in Sarajevo. Princip shot the Archduke's Wife aswell and after both were dead pointed the gun to himself but was stopped by someone it the crowed that jumped on top if him.
  • Gremany declares war on Russia

    After the assationation of Archduke Austria-Hungary began to blame the serbian government and with hopes that this would adress and solve the problem of Slavic nationalism in the tumultuous Balkans region. But because Russia was allied with Serbia Austria-Hungary waited to declair war until they had the support of Germany
  • Germany declares war on France

    Germnay declairs war on france just two days after decairing war in Russia. This is because Germany has plans of a two-front war againts both Germant and Russia
  • Britain declares war on Germany

    Great Britain declared war on Germny in response to Germany's attack on Belgium through france. Britain knew if Germany gained control of Belgium and make it a target for Germany.
  • President Woodrow Wilson announces the U.S. will remain neutral

    Woodrow wilson wanted the U.S to remain becuause he saw this war as pointless and didnt want to lose American lives, use material, and put effort into a war that was pointless and has nothing to do with America

    The battle that lasted for six days started on August 26,1914 and ended on August 30 1914 between Germany and Russia. 50,000 Russian soliders were killed and around 92,000 were held prisoner.

  • The British ocean liner RMS Lusitania is sunk by German U-boat

    On May 7, 1915, a year after World War I a German U-boat torpedoed and sank the RMS Lusitania, a British ocean liner leaving from New York to Liverpool, England. more than 1,900 passengers and crew members on board, more than 1,100 perished, including more than 120 Americans. Nearly two years would pass before the United States formally entered World War I, but the sinking of the Lusitania played a significant role in the turning point.
