    Germany Invades Poland (Europe)
    On the 1st of september, 1939, Germany invaded Poland sending troops, ariforce (Luftwaffe) and U-boats. Hitler wanted to invade Poland to provide the Germans with living space. He planned on colonizing Poland and enslaving the Polish people. Hitler claimed that the attack was of a defencive nature but Britain and France were not convinced and later declared war on Germany.

    France surrenders to Germany (Europe)
    After Germany occupied Paris on the 14th of June, Henri-Philippe Petain, the vice-premier, and Maxime Weygand, the commander of the armed forces, proposed that the government not flee but stay in France and sign an armistice. Petain soon became premier and on the 2ist of June signed an armistice with Germany, giving them control over three-fiths of the country and the forced surrender of all the Jews in France.

    The first of july was the start of a Blitzkrieg tactic, carried out by Germany against Britain. The purpose being, to gain power over Southern Britain and the English Channel, leading to the invasion of Britain. On the first of September 1940, operation sea lion commenced in an attempt by Germany to gain both air and sea superiority using the Luftwaffe over English soil and U-boats in the Atlantic sea. On the 17th of September Hitler ended the invasion of Britain because they were losing.

    The Japanese declare war on America by bombing a major military instalation based in Pearl Harbour. 3 destroyers, five battleships and multiple other ships were sunk or damaged aswell as over 200 aircraft that were destroyed, but luckily for America their Pacific fleet carriers were out training. These carriers were pivotal to the later defeat of the Japanese navy.

    On the 8th of december, the day after the bombing of Pearl Harbour, the United States declared war on Japan. Three days later they declared war on the remaining axis powers.

    From January 1944-June 1945 American forces pushed the Japanese forces back using the 'Island hopping' stratergy which involved cutting off supplies and avoiding confrontation.

    Russians invade Berlin on the 16th of april 1945. When Hitler hears of this he carries out his plan, commiting suicide on the 30th of april with his new wife Eva Braun.

    Atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
    On august the 6th, 1945, the worlds first atomic bomb was detinated on Hiroshima, Japan. Killing 80,000 people instantly and 10s of thousands later dying of radiation poisoning. Three days later on the 9th of august, the second atomic bomb was deployed over Nagasaki, killing another 40,000 people. 5 days later on the 14th of august Japan unconditionally surrendered.
