  • Japan invades Manchuria

    In 1931, The Japanese invasion of Manchuria started Japanese hostility against China & Indochina. Japan proposed establishing a Japanese domain of economic dominance and by enlargement, tried to solve economic problems.
  • Munich Pact

    Britain and France came to an agreement to allow Hitler to take more land but in exchange for Hitler's agreement to seek no more territory after that compromise. Less than 6 months later Hitler had broken the Pact by continuing to take territory and ending European policy of acceding.
  • Kristallnacht

    The meaning of Kristallnacht is " Night of broken glass" and that lasted for 2 days which was November 9th & 10th and the year was 1938. In Germany, The Nazis incinerate synagogues, demolished Jewish homes, learning environments, and businesses. There were close to 100 Jews that were killed.
  • Neutrality Acts

    Cash & Carry but in other words: The Neutrality Acts of 1939 and the Act empowered nations at war to buy goods from the US if they paid cash upfront and carried the solution on their own ships.
  • Germany invades Poland

    On Sept 1st, 1939 Germany's invasion of Poland led to France and Britain declaring war on Germany. Germany took advantage of the strategy of blitzkrieg then quickly invaded France and institute hurtful air raids on Britain.
  • Lend-Lease Act

    In March, the year of 1941, Congress authorizes Roosevelt to "sell, transfer title to, trade, rental, lend or otherwise discard to any such government and justification article".
  • Atlanic Charter

    FDR and Britain Prime Minister Winston Churchill signed the Atlantic Charter. In August, The year of 1941 a broad statement of US and Britain war aims. It countersign self determination and an international system of general security. Also it was showed FDR's commitment to combatant German & Japanese aggression
  • Exec Order 8022

    A. Philip Randolph threatened to organize a march to demand fair access to wartime workers in Washington. FDR released Executive Order 8802 in response, banning ethnic or racial discrimination in the security sector of the country.
  • Atlanic Conference

    On August 14th, 1941. The Atlantic Conference- Winston Churchill and FDR confederation reinforce between the US & Great Britain by signing the Atlantic Charter.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    On December 7, 1941, A surprise attack mastermind by the Japanese against Pearl Harbor naval base, as well as nearby airfield. In response Japan attacked US embargoes because it saw the US pacific fleet as threat to its growing empire. 2400 Americans killed, 1300 were wounded & 19 US ships either sunk or damaged.
  • Exec Order 9066

    Japanese origin Americans and native aliens from Japan. Japanese citizens and Japanese origin Americans were forced to sell their property & possessions and to register for deportation to inland desert camps.
  • Battle of Midway

    The Battle of Midway lasted for a couple of days from June 4th to the 7th of the year 1942. The Mid victory halted the Japanese advance and put them on the defensive.
  • Operation Torch

    Operation Torch proceeded for some time, November 8th, 1942 all the way to May 13th, 1943. In order to liberate the Mediterranean Sea from German influence and secure the oil fields in the Middle East, the invasion of North Africa was started.
  • D-Day

    On D-Day, June 6th, 1944 was the day that The Invasion of Normandy finally arrange the long-awaited western front from
    Germany and was now embroiled on three fronts and had to divert money to the western front.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    The Battle of the Bulge started on December 16th, 1944. It was the last German abuse and the beginning of the end for the Nazis and ended on January 25th, 1945.
  • Korematsu v. United States

    Fred Korematsu was a Japanese American who according to the exec, refused to leave his home. Order (9066) released in favor of resident aliens and Japanese Americans. He brought his case to the Supreme Court, arguing that his Civil rights were violated by internment.
  • Yalta Conference

    On February 2nd, 1945. The Yalta Conference - Churchill, FDR, Stalin - Final preparations for Europe's defeat & debate on the European Post-War Plans.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki

    The Bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki was decided to be dropped by President Truman and From August 6th to the 9th of the year 1945. To avoid the requirement of landing and fighting on the home islands of Japan (which would result in too many American lives lost)
  • United Nations is created

    The United Nations was created on October 24th, 1945. In helping to coordinate and start the United Nations, the US played a key role. The idea was proposed by Woodrow Wilson based in the League of nations. The UN meant that an intergovernmental body entrusted with the promotion of international relations and the establishment and preservation of international order.
  • Nuremberg Trials

    The Nuremberg Trials started on November 20th, 1945, and ended on October 1st, 1946. It was confirmed the example for two reasons which are: 1- That people are accountable for their own actions and the second is for potential war crimes cases. However, the precedents that are set by the Nuremberg Trials and the prosecution of the Nazis have not brought an end to genocide worldwide.
  • Truman Doctrine

    the Truman doctrine was on March 12th, 1947 and it was pledged to restrain communism in Europe. it was the first to apply when the US-supplied military and financial aid to two countries were Greece and turkey. It was to resist the communist-backed rebel forces there.
  • Marshall Plan

    The Marshall plan or in other words the economic recovery plan was made on April 3rd, 1948 and it was proposed by Sec. State George Marshall. The US has provided financial assistance [the Marshall Plan] to encourage economic reconstruction and to avoid the collapse of Communism in the European countries.
  • Israel is established

    Israel is developed (May 14, 1948)
    The US-sponsored the Jewish people's self-determination by establishing the Jewish state of Israel.
    The US immediately acknowledged and supported Israel,
    Describes the impact on the consciousness of the US & the world of German war crimes.
  • Berlin Airlift

    From June 24th, 1949 through May 12th, 1949. The first Cold War confrontation with the Berlin Airlift was won by the United States. The US supplied food, water, and other supplies to the people of Berlin through air droplets.
  • US established NATO

    NATO or more defined North Atlantic Treaty Organization and it was settled on July 25, 1949. NATO was set up as a military alliance against the Soviet Union & The Warsaw Pact was organized by the Soviet Union in 1955. A military coalition of the nations of Eastern Europe against NATO.
  • Soviet Union tests Atomic Bomb

    On August 29, 1949, the Soviet Union tested the Atomic Bomb, which prompted the US to increase the production of the hydrogen bomb, and began a nuclear arms race.
  • Korea Conflict ( War )

    South Korea was invaded by communist North Korea on June 25th, 1950. The Truman administration claimed that the Soviet Union had planned this invasion and encouraged the United Nations to take action. The United Nations voted unanimously to call for a truce to protect South Korea and encourage 'police action.'
  • Soviet Union launches Sputnik

    When the Soviet Union launched its first successful satellite into orbit, The name was called Sputnik on Oct 4, 1957, the space race took off.
  • National Defense Education Act

    As a result, On Sept. 2nd, 1958. The National Defense Education Act was enacted by the US Congress. Promoting talents in science and mathematics. The concern that consumerism has made Americans less competitive and less likely to win the arms race counteracts this.
  • Rise of the Berlin Wall

    The town was finally physically separated by the Berlin Wall (const. started Aug. 13, 1961), which became a symbol of the Cold War to isolate East & West Germany and prevent eastern bloc citizens from fleeing west across Berlin in [1962] to freedom.
  • Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan

    On 24 Dec 1979, the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan to assist a friendly regime. Due to the policy of containment, the US-sponsored the Afghan resistance movement much of it done secretly.
  • Fall of the Berlin Wall

    The Cold War ended mainly because of: Changes in the USSR, Arms race pressure and Afghanistan's war on the Soviet economy, & Liberation in Eastern Europe Movement.
    The collapse of the Berlin Wall was viewed as the culmination of the Cold War in 1989.
