    Japanese invasion of China
    The reason why Japan invaded China was because Japan wanted more resources which China had. Japan wanted to be an imperial and military power, but they didn't have the resources neccesary to do so. They wanted to take control of China and also have some parts of Russia too with the help of Hitler. After they found out that Hitler made a nonagression pact with Russia that made Japan made upset.
  • Rape of Nanking

    Rape of Nanking
    Through out the year of 1937 the imperial Japanese army visciously murdered thousands of civilians and soldiers. This brutal event was ongoing for six weeks in the Chinese city of Naking. Approximently 20,000 to 80,000 women were sexually assulted.

    Germany's Invasion of Poland
    In 1939 Germany decided to take over Polland which was originally German territory. Germany took over Poland in order to get its land back while on its conquest for more and more land. It only took Germany a little more than a month in order to take over Poland. After Germany took over Poland they used it to hold concentration camps.

    The Germans first used the Blitzkrieg method in order to invade Poland. The Blitzkrieg method is where the Germans used mobile vehicles and concentraited firepower, they used it in order to throw off the enemy and storm in immediately. They then used the technique on France in the 1940s, and once more against the Soviet Union, although it was successful they lost that war due to the harsh weather in Russia.

    In June 12th, 1940 Germany invaded France. German tanks had made it through two main front lines of defences. They were closer and coser to their goal, Paris.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    Operation Barbarossa was a code name that the nazis used when invading Russia. Germany decided to break their nonagression pact with Russia because Hitler wanted to take over the Soviet Union. He used the Blitzkrieg method on Russia and had the upper hand for a while. Russians were having a poor time while this war was going on, they didn't have much food or water. In the end though Russia won becasue of their harsh winter, the nazis and the tanks couldn't withstand the cold.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    In 1941 Japan decided to attack America by bombing the naval fleet. They decided that if they neutralized our navy then they could proceed to invade Malaya. They used Kamikaze piolets in order to risk their lives by crashing their planes into our ships. After that vicious attack the U.S decided to bomb them back with a new bomb, the atom bomb, which they dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The Japanese suffered from radiation after that bombing and most lost their lives.

    Wannsee Conference
    This was a conference held on January 20th, and it was held to figure out the Nazi’s final solution to their Jewish problems. This conference was conducted with many euphemisms, but everyone knew the true goal of the conference. The “final solution” was essentially the extermination of Jews in Europe.     The Battle of Midway occured in June, six months after the japanese bombed US navy at Pearl Harbor. The first period of the Battle of Midway was filled with Japanese bombing the area of midway. US B-17 Flying Fortresses started to bomb the same area which was effective.

    The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising occured in the capital of Poland. This event was one of the first Jewish revolutions against the Nazi's. The group of jews were supposed to be moved away from the ghetto in three days. Surprisingly this group of jews stayed put for about a month.

    Operation Gomorrah
    Operation Gomorrah was a bombing of the German city Hamburg. Before Operation Gomorrah, the British were in a joint bombing raid with the Americans. In it, the British were to attack at night, and the Americans during the day, and their bombing would last several days. At the end, of this raid, they would reach Hamburg, and when it was bombed, it was bombed greatly, a first attack which set the city ablaze, and then the main bulk of the attack which was on a burning target, killing tons and tons

    D-Day (Invation of Normandy)
    D-Day, June 6th, which lead to the Invasion Of Normandy, was when 100,000+ British, American, and Canadian troops landed on 5 beaches on France’s Normandy
    region. The British and Canadians were to land on beaches codenamed Sword, Juno, and Gold; whilst the Americans landed on beaches codenamed Omaha and Utah. This was the largest seaborne invasion in history, and air attacks and landings into France preceded these landings.

    Battle of the Bulge
    This was a major offensive attack by Hitler. His goal was to split the ally armies by using blitzkrieg attacks. The Americans got the worst of the attack, as they were battered, and now split. They fought desperate battles, and although they were defeated, they did slow down Hitler form furthering his invasion. Hitler, however, had his armies heavily depleted.

    The most known Liberation of a Concentration Camp is the Liberation of Auschwitz. Auschwitz was a main concentration camp. Some survivors were released from the camps. Joyful they were stil alive they left the camp as fast as they could.

    Operation Thunderclap was under discussion amongst Allied Powers for some time. It was a Soviet plan to bomb the eastern cities of Germany. It was to not only disrupting the formidable Eastern Front, but also to show the German public how their Air resistance had failed. It was to drastically decrease the German morale.

    The U.S wanted to gain land near Japan. This way their aircrafts wouldn’t have to return to the base and worry about not having enough fuel. The island of Iwo Jima was defended by about 23,000 army and navy troops.   • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    Battle of Okinawa lasted about 3 months. The battle involved 287,000 troops of the U.S army and 130,000 soldiers of the Japanese army. During this battle is when the Japanese mounted air attacks by planes on one-way suicide missions. Both of the commanding generals died during this battle. U.S commander Simon B. Buckner died by artillery fire and the Japanese general Ushijima Mitsuru committed suicide.

    VE Day (Victory over Europe)
    Victory in Europe Day, in celebration the defeat of the Nazi war machine. The 8th of May is when the Nazi troops drooped their weapons and surrendered. The Germans surrendered to the Soviet Union. Russians took about 2 million prisoners before and even after they surrendered. In the 9th of May the Soviets lost 600 more soldiers before the Germans finally surrendered.

    In 1940 is when the United States began on developing the first atomic bomb. August 6, 1945 Enola Gay dropped a 5-ton bomb over Hiroshima and killed 80,000 people. The bomb didn’t just cause an explosion that killed thousands of people. It caused a some what long term effect. Tens of thousands of more people died the following week due to the radiation poisoning of that explosion.

    VJ Day (Victory over Japan)
    In 1945, August 14th and 15th were know as Victory over Japan Day. Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7 led to an immediate U.S. declaration of war. Then Adolf Hitler Declared war on the United States soon after. On August 14 1945, Japan surrendered. Japan surrendering marked the end of World War 2.
