    Stalin assumes power in the Soviet Union
    Stalin completed this political domination of the Soviet Union using purges. Estimate of 20 million people died under his reign.
  • Mussolini assumes power in Italy

    Mussolini assumes power in Italy
    Mussolini was the fascist ruler of Italy from 1922-1943. He used his black shirts to scare off people. He used dictatorship in Italy to cure its economy.
  • Hitler assumes power in Germany

    Started of as the leader for the Nazi Party, he rised up to be the Chancellor of Germany. He used brown shirts as opposed to black shirts of Mussolini to scared off people. Very much against the Treaty of Versailles

    Legalize discrimination towards Jewish people. These laws stripped Jews of their German citizenship, as well as the right to marry any German. Jewish children were also humiliated publicly at schools

    When the Japanese raped, murdered and pillaged an entire Chinese village. The Japanese refuse to acknowledge this event as an actual occurrence. This has been disputed since there is so much evidence it is a fact the event occurred.

    Allowed Germany to annex Sudetenland in an attempt from the Allied to ease the Germans. Sudetenland was a part of Czechoslovakia. This was an appeasement between major powers in Europ, excluding the USSR.

    So called "Night of Shattered Glasses". Jewish businesses were vandalised and burnt. The synagogues were also burnt and most Jews that able to run to havens weren't accepted.

    Germany and the USSR signed a 10 years non-aggressive pact so no one would touch the other. Hitler actually broke the pact in 2 years with the battle of Stalingrad. The pact was to make sure they could get their things done without being bothered by the other power.

    A policy that allowed the U.S. to supply allied nations. They supplied the U.K., China and France with supplies like food, oil, and materials. Billions were spent supporting these countries.

    Signed and issued by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It allowed the Secretary of State to pertain certain areas as military zones. The main purpose was to put all Japanese living in America into internment camps

    A dangerous and treacherous March that the Japanese forced prisoners of war to partake in. They were given no food or water and most died. If they stopped walking they were shot.

    This occurred 6 months after Pearl Harbor. It was a real turning point in the war. The Japanese tried to launch another attack like Pearl Harbor but failed miserably.

    A major battle near the Eastern Front of WWII. Was one of the largest and bloodiest battles in history. Hitler said they could not surrender but after 6 months they had to surrender.

    A near suicide mission that caused the U.S. to lose many men. It's purpose was to free France. The U.S. pulled through and won.
  • Battle of Leyte Gulf

    Battle of Leyte Gulf
    Biggest naval battle of WWII. There were also so aerial attacks on the battle. The allies were not defeated.
  • Battle of Bulge

    The last main British offensive. It was launched through the ardennes region. The Germans tried to stop it. They were defeated in this eventful battle.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    Codename "Operation Iceberg", one of the battle in the series of the Pacific War. The battle lasted for 82 days. The US Army wanted to invade Okinawa and turn it into an air camp for operations in Japanese home island.

    A public holiday celebrating the surrender of Nazi Germany. This caused the end of WWII in Europe. Originally celebrated to on the 8th but is now being celebrated on the 9th.

    Dropped with the consent of Great Britain as an outline of Quebec Agreement. The bombing killed 90,000–146,000 people in Hiroshima. This was the first bomb, called Fat Boy, in the series of 2 bombs that were dropped on Japan.

    Dropped 3 days after the first one in Hiroshima. The bombing killed 39,000–80,000 in Nagasaki. 6 days after this bombing, Japan surrendered

    Trials that sentenced those involved in the oppression of the Jews. Most men were charged with hate crimes. They tried to say they were following orders but were trialed otherwise.

    V-J Day
    A day to celebrate the day Japan surrendered in WWII. Just like V-E Day people celebrated like no other. This was lead to the end of WWII.
