  • Japan and China officially declare war.

     Japan and China officially declare war.
    China had started the war due to the fact that they felt as if they had no right in the government and they also felt enslaved. Being a bigger and more militarized country, Japan felt as if they were the right ruler of China. This spiked the short war, which Japan won.
  • Hitler invades Poland

    Hitler invades Poland
    A short number of years after the Berlin Olympics, Hitler invaded Poland. This proved that Hitler was still the violent dictator everyone had presumed he was. This was the start of the Nazi movement.
  • Nazis begin the Euthanasia Program

    Nazis begin the Euthanasia Program
    The Euthanasia Program was essentially the termination of any person with a disability. Hitler thought that if he had gotten rid of the disabled people, that the it would make the Aryan race even better and more supreme.

    This was the next step for Hitler in his notorious plan. No one really paid attention to Hitler during this due to the fact that the leaders of the world wrongly thought that Hitler would stop his invasions and overall, be “satisfied”.

     Winston Churchill becomes British Prime Minister
    His speeches inspired British resistance, especially during the days of 1940-1 when the British Empire stood almost alone in its active fight against Adolf Hitler. He led Britain as Prime Minister until victory over Nazi Germany.
  • Marshal Pétain becomes French Prime Minister

    Marshal Pétain becomes French Prime Minister
    He was prime minister through the end of world war two (1945) he was a major part in trying to bring peace between Germany and france. Although, him being prime minister he was later tried with war crimes. After all of the trails he was eventually convicted.

    Hitler was prepared to invade Britain and essentially control it. This would be one of the major events of world war two. Although the attack was postponed due to other issues regarding the Russians.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    The Japanese air fleet bomb the Hawaii island for the fact that the Japanese felt as if they were not receiving enough resources. They chose to bomb America to show their frustration towards America’s decisions. America immediately started retaliation.
  • United States and Britain declare war on Japan

    United States and Britain declare war on Japan
    Just a day after the Pearl Harbor bombing, America and Britain declared war on Japan. America felt as if they were wrongly and viciously attacked.
  • Hitler declares war on the United States

    Hitler declares war on the United States
    Hitler has now encountered the United States from the recent events to stop him from ruling. He certainly disagrees with the U.S.

    This was Hitler’s second attempt to take over Russia. His plan was significantly underrating the Russians, being that they fought a lot longer than expected. More than 20 million Russian soldiers and civilians died.
  • D-day

    D-day
    Operation Overlord. It was the invasion of the German controlled beaches in Normandy. It was and still is, the largest sea, land and air. overtake ever. With that being said, the Allied forces won.
  • Soviet troops liberate Auschwitz

    Soviet troops liberate Auschwitz
    Auschwitz ( one of the many infamous concentration camps) was finally liberated after years of Jewish torture. This was a very fortunate day for the very few survivors of the deadly camp.

    Yalta Conference

    A meeting that included: Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin. All three leaders agreed to split Germany into 4 controlled zones, allowing all, free elections. Stalin broke his promise and forced Soviet rule.
  • Harry Truman becomes president

    Harry Truman becomes president
    Roosevelt dies which forces presidential succession. Americans that liked the idea of the atomic bomb were very fortunate that Truman agreed as much as Roosevelt did on dropping the bomb. Therefore, the bombing proceeds as planned.

    Adolf Hitler, not surprisingly, committed suicide towards the end of the German part in world war two. He had very little confidence in his shrunken Nazi army who was close to extinction. He knew he would be executed and he did not want to die in the hands of what he referred to as the infidels he confronted.

    V-E day means victory in Europe. This was the day that the Nazis had officially surrender to the United Nations. Germany was then split into four territoriali zones divided for the U.N.
  • Potsdam Conference

    The three big leaders (Truman, Stalin and Churchill) established a meeting on how to end world war two. They talked about how they could successfully defeat Japan. They overall came to a conclusion on the terms on how to end world war two.
  • First atomic bomb dropped, on Hiroshima, Japan

    First atomic bomb dropped, on Hiroshima, Japan
    The atomic bomb instantly killed 80,000 Japanese residents. The bomb was dropped to essentially put fear into the Japanese army. This plan was successful.

    After 4 years of fighting with the United States, the Japanese had come to a conclusion to surrender. This was not long after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.
