    Japan sent a force of several hundred fighters to attack the U.S military in Hawaii. The attack ended with the destruction of 8 battleships, 300 airplanes, and 2000 dead soldiers and civilians. Japan attacked the U.S in hopes of crippling their navy because the u.S navy could stop Japan's conquest of the Pacific Island. The U.S soon declared war on them for this attack.
