  • Japan Invades Manchuria

    The invasion of Manchuria began when the Japanese hostility was towards China and Indochine. The United States then responded to the situation by limiting trade restrictions (ex: embargos on gas and iron)
  • Munich Pact

    This event was created by Britain and France so they could agree for Hitler to take over the land. Hitler broke their pact and eventually it led to the ending of the European policy of appeasement.
  • Kristallnacht

    This event was known as the "Night of Broken Glass," specificially because during this time the Nazis were vandalizing everything the Jewish people had owned and other things like businesses, schools, buildings, etc. They killed many Jews, which made life hard living as a Jew.
  • Neutrality Acts of 1939

    During the start of the Neutrality Acts, the FDR came and wanted to use the act to change some things of the American Policy from Isolationism to International. This event led to more policies being involved such as cash and carry, deal and lend leases, and destroyers for bases.
  • Germany Invades Poland

    Germany vs. Poland invasion led France and Britain to declare war on Germany. Germany then took use of the strategy called "Blizkerig," while they invaded France and launched air raids on Britain.
  • Lend-Lease Act

    The Lend-Lease Act was an act where Congress gave the approval for FDR to exchange leases, sell, and lend things to other governments. Roosevelt thought of this idea as "necessary in the interest of the defense of the United States."
  • Execution Order of 8022

    The Exec Order of 8022 was established by President Theodore Roosevelt, which prohibited racial discrimination in the national industry.
  • Atlantic Charter & Atlantic Conference

    The Atlantic Charter and Conference changed peacetime into a war zone. During the time of the war, FDR and Winston Churchill signed the Atlantic Charter, which then endorsed self-determination.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    The Attack on Pearl Harbor was launched by the Japanese. Their attack was the way of responding to the United States embargo. The attack injured and killed thousands of people, including the sinking of US ships. FDR then made a public speech the day after and ended with "a date which will live in infamy."
  • Execution Order of 9066

    The Execution Order of 9066 was an order that authorized the internment of Americans of Japanese descent and resident aliens from Japan.
  • Battle of Midway

    The Battle of Midway was the victory of Japan which stopped them in advance and put them on defense. Okinawa and Two Jima showed that the Japanese were not going to yield, knowing that an invasion would be very bad for them.
  • Operation Torch

    This event was an invasion of North America to free the Mediterranean Sea from Germany, and protect the oil fields that were located in the Middle East.
  • D-Day Invasion of Normandy

    The D-Day Invasion provided the long-waited Western front (Italy, Soviet Union, France). Germany had then become engaged with the 3 fronts and diverted resources.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    The Battle of the Bulge was the last offense of Germany and the beginning of ending the Nazis. After the war, the American, French, and British began to march West.
  • Korematsu vs. United States

    Korematsu was a Japanese American who refused to leave his home due to the cause of the Execution Order of 9066. He decided to retaliate and take his case to the Supreme Court and eventually lost. The Supreme Court verified Japanese as "constitutional"
  • Yalta Conference

    This event was when the big three made a plan to defeat Europe and post-war European plans.
  • Nuremberg Trails

    The Nuremberg Trails were for people who said they were following the orders they had been told. This trail set precedents that all individuals were responsible for their actions. It also continued the event of genocide.
  • Birth of the United Nations

    This event was when the United States created the United Nation to help them with organizing. The United Nation was created mainly to promote International Cooperations and help maintain international orders.
  • Truman Doctrine

    The Truman Doctrine pledged to contain communism throughout Europe. This doctrine was used when the United States supplied militaries and financial aids to Greece and Turkey.
  • Marshall Plan

    The Marshall Plan was a plan that promoted financial aids so that economic rebuildings could put a stop to the fall of communism. This plan was prosed by Sec. of State George Marshall.
  • Israel is Established

    Israel was established and the United States supported the self-determination of the Jewish people. It also illustrated German war crime impacts and the moral of the US and the whole world.
  • Berlin Airlift

    The Berlin Airlift helped the United States won the first confrontation. The airlift was brought out to supply people in Berlin with living necessities like food, water, clothing, etc.
  • United States establishes NATO

    The establishment of NATO set up a military alliance that went after the Soviet Union. During this time, the Soviet Union created a Warsaw Pact.
  • Soviet Union tests Atomic Bomb

    The Soviet Union tested the atomic bomb, and the United States started to think of it as a threat and accelerated the development of the Hydrogen Bomb. The United States started something called "Nuclear Arms Race," which later on they had a competition to see who could create the best bombs.
  • Korean Conflict War

    In North Korea, communism invaded South Korea. The United Nations voted to support and defend South Korea by using Police Action. The Korean Conflict ended out when a peace negotiation ended with North Korea above the 38th parallel line and a victory from containment.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki

    During this event, President Truman dropped an atomic bomb from the need of people entering Japan and fighting. They wanted to prevent the amount of loss of people. The consequences behind this were that the Japanese got destroyed and they surrendered.
  • Soviet Union Launches Sputnik

    This event was a space race that was started when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik. The United States was also in the arms race when the first man landed on the moon.
  • National Defense Education Act

    This act helped promote Science and Mathematical skills and increased the fine quality of education itself. It even set a second round of the Red Scare.
  • Rise of the Berlin Wall (Construction Begins)

    The creation of the Berlin Wall was a unique symbol to separate East and West Germany during the Cold War. The wall kept the people from the Eastern block from escaping to freedom.
  • Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan

    This event was when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan to prop a friendly-like government. The United States supported the Afghanistan resistance movement. Afghanistan rebelled into a Tailan.
  • The Fall of the Berlin Wall

    The fall of the Berlin Wall was the ending of the Cold War
