Attack on Pearl Harbor
The attack on Pearl Harbor took place near Honolulu, Hawaii. At Pearl Harbor hundreds of Japanese fighter planes bombarded an American base. There 2,400 American lives were lost with 1,000 people wounded. This led to the U.S declaring war on Japan. -
The Civil Rights Movement
The Civil Rights Movement lasted from 1954- 1968. This was established so that African Americans can get the equal rights they deserve.Their motive was to get rid of discrimination especially in the South. This took many reformers like Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. to make possible. This is significant to American history because everyone deserves equality. -
NFWA
The National Farm Workers Association is an important event in U.S history. The NFWA's goal was to make the farm owners to treat their farm workers with respect. Some activists involved in this journey were Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez. Both of these leaders were able to ban discrimination, sexual harassment, and able to provide union contracts to the workers. -
Apollo 11
The first ever Moon Landing of 1969 changed the world. The three astronauts who first landed on the moon were Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. This is significant to U.S history because this allows the world to know there is a greater world out there greater than Earth. We still have years and years of exploration and that was only the beginning. -
The 44th President of the United States
On January 20, 2009 it was announced that we would have the first African American president, Barack Obama. This was a major turning point for the U.S. This allowed for more diversity to take hold of the U.S.
