    The earthquake killed 22,000 people and made one-sixth of the population homeless, the people of Guatemala were clear about their needs.     A devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on January 12th 2010. It was the worst earthquake to hit the country in 200 years. Up to three million people live in the area worst hit by the quake, which centred 10 miles south-west of the densely populated capital Port-Au-Prince. The latest estimates are 230,000 people killed, 300,000 injured and 1.2 million left needing emergency shelter. The DEC Haiti Earthquake appeal raised an incredible £101 million.     Over 20 million people were affected by the devastating floods that started in the mountains of north west Pakistan in late July and then spread over hundreds of miles down the Indus River in August. The floods damaged or destroyed 1.9 million homes as well as schools, health clinics, small businesses and crops. The appeal remains open until January 2011 and you can find further details here.
