    President Harry Truman signs a peace treaty that ends WWII. After the treaty was signed many people migrated to the United States. Women had huge role changes during the war, which asked the question if men and women are equal. The manufacturing industry boomed as the focus on weapons was ceased and the manufacturing of vehicles began.

    Eisenhower defeats Adlai E. Stevenson in the presidential election. Eisenhower was a soldier, just as Ulysses S. Grant in 1869. Due to the high tensions between the United States and Russia, and issue with containing Communism the election was crucial to the country.

    In 1954 the Brown v. Board of Educators of Topeka, Kansas case impacted the U.S. The racial segregation broke the 14 amendment's "equal protection clause". This huge case had put the United States Constitution on the side of racial segregation which helped the Civil Right Movement. African Americans had to fight to get the same education as the whites did at the time. NAACP had brought lawsuits on behalf of black students in some states for them to attend white schools.

    The Federal-Aid Highway Act would allow the construction of interstate highways across America. Many of the people were excited for this, but as time went on issues arose. The time put into these roads were very long causing anger especially in rural areas. This road system which still stands today provides a quicker way to travel state to state with land vehicles. States were required to set a speed limit for its own highway and the thought of more highways came about.

    The government feared the United States shortage of resources. After announcing Alaska a state of the United States we gained many different resources we did not have then. Some resources were lots of oil, cola, silver, zinc, gold, timber, and fish. In 1893 the last monarchy of Hawaii was ruled by Queen, Liliuokalani who was overthrown. The United States submitted a treaty to annex which is the reason its a state now.

    The USS Nautilus was the worlds first nuclear powered submarine. Ideas of what else can run on nuclear power came about. The United States Military was very pleased to find the success of the vessel as it is everything they pictured. The U.S. government had talk about manufacturing more of these vessels as they prove to be more of a threat to our enemies.
