  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    Just after finishing the French and Indian War, the Americans were still celebrating. Their party came to an end when they recieved note from the British. They now had the Proclamation of 1763, letting them know that they cannot spread their lands.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    Before the sugar act, Americans were still upset with the British. The British were taxing them on a lot of things. Now, they had even more taxes, both on sugar and molasses.
  • The Declaratory Act

    The Declaratory Act
    The Declatory Act was put in place to try and better the American Colonies. The document stated that America was to be completely in control of Great Britian. It also stated that they were allowed to make any laws they please, and there shall be no way of running away from the rules.
  • The Townshend Revenue Act

    The Townshend Revenue Act
    More British taxes meant the British were making even more money. The Americans were outraging and causing more mayhem for the British. The British decided to bring in bigger ships.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    After an American threw a few snowballs at some British soldiers, they got pretty annoyed. They attacked back with their guns, causing panic in the streets. After killing quite a few people it became known as The Boston Massacre.
  • The Gaspy Affair

    The British officers put in place to keep track of the new laws were becoming more and more aggressive. A boat was lured into shallow waters where they planned an attack. Nothing good came out of it, but nothing too terribly bad happened either.
  • The Tea Act

    During this act, the British decided to try and lower the price of tea, so that the American Colonies could be happy. The Americans saw right through this trap and realized that it was just them trying to get Americans to accept more taxes that were about to be thrown down upon them. No longer happy, the Americans decided to rebel, leading to the Boston Tea Party.

    The Boston Tea Party
    After The Tea Act, the Americans became angry at the fact that the British were trying to buy them back with bargained price tea. After seeing the British placing their tea on a harbor, they had a brilliant idea. They dressed up in disguises and threw the large amount into the water.
  • The Articles of Association

    The Articles of Association was made to stop the trade coming in and out of Great Britian. There were however, quite a few exceptions. Unlike most other documents of the time, this one was enforced throughout the colonies.
  • "Give me liberty or give me death!"

    "Give me liberty or give me death!"
    Patrick Henry, coming from American ground, gave a speech in which he stated that he would rather die than not have liberty. He was a representative of virginia, later becoming a founder. He declined two offices offered by both George Washington and John Adams.
  • George Washington, Commander in Chief

    George Washington, Commander in Chief
    After a while of consideration, the Americans decided George Washington would be a great new Commander in Chief for themselves. He had gone through quite a bit of warfare, sticking with them since the beginning. The soldiers were happy following him, and he was happy leading them.
  • Bunker Hill

    Bunker Hill
    Nighttime in June, 1775 led the Americans up to a hill known as Bunker Hill. After a misunderstanding, however, they were on their way to Breed's Hill instead. After fixing their error the British woke up to a cannon being pointed directly at them. The British finally chased them back, losing nearly half of their men.
  • Flag Resolution

    Flag Resolution
    In 1777 to make up for the 13 colonies the Americans had to create a new flag. The flag designed changed from something supporting the flag design we have now, to the stars being arranged in a circle. They finally decided on 13 stars on a blue background revolving in a circle, with 13 stripes.
  • French Alliance

    French Alliance
    In 1778 America and France made a treaty of alliance. The goal was for America to protect France in case of any attacks from British soil. It also declared that neither country was to make peace with the British.
  • Constitution Signed

    Constitution Signed
    In 1787 the Constitution was signed. The document was made in order to make the country more organized and civilized. The hope was to create a more perfect union.
