  • The Treaty of Greenville

    The Treaty of Greenville
    The Treaty of Greenville was a treaty of peace between the United States of America, and the tribes of Indians called the Wyandots, Delawares, ShTreaty of Greenville, it was signed at Fort Greenville.It was signed after the Native Americans lost at The Battle of Fallen Timbers and it ended the Northwest Indian War. It also limited strategic parcels of land to the north and west.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase
    Thomas Jefferson sent James Monroe and Livingston to France to purchase New Orleans, but when he arrived the French asked Livingston if the US was interested in purchasing Louisiana. The purchase is considered one of the most important achievement in Jefferson's presidency because it allowed Americans to move westward.
  • The Steamboat is invented

    The Steamboat is invented
    The Steamboat was invented by John Fitch on Aug 22, 1787 and was 45 feet long. John Fitch built four more steamboats, but they were expensive to build and to operate. Because they were so expensive, his steamboats were unsuccessful. The first successful steamboat was the Clermont, which was built by American inventor Robert Fulton in 1807.
  • The Battle of Tippecanoe

    The Battle of Tippecanoe
    A battle fought between the American's and Shawnee Indians in Prophetstown. The American's were lead by William Henry Harrison and the Shawnee Indians led by Laulewasikau. Harrison, who was on a mission to destroy the power of an intertribal defensive alliance being promoted by Tecumseh and his brother, repelled the Shawnee attack and burned the village.

    The War of 1812 was fought from June 18, 1812- Feb 17, 1815 between the United States and Britain. The cause of the war was Britain trying to restrict the US trade.
  • Indiana becomes a state

    The name Indiana generally thought to mean “land of the Indians,” Indiana was admitted on Dec. 11, 1816, as the 19th state of the union. President James Madison signed for Indiana to become a state.
  • The National Road is Completed

    The National Road is Completed
    The bill was passed in 1806 to build a road that would connect Cumberland, Maryland to the Ohio River, but construction didn't start til 1811 and the 130 mile road wasn't completed until 1818. It was also called Cumberland Road.

    Adams-Onis Treaty was signed on Feb 22, 1819, but wasn't put in effect until Feb 22, 1821. The Adams–Onís Treaty of 1819, also known as the Transcontinental Treaty, the Florida Purchase Treaty, or the Florida Treaty, was a treaty between the United States and Spain in 1819 that ceded Florida to the U.S. and defined the boundary between the U.S. and New Spain.
  • The Missouri Compromise

    The Missouri Compromise was an effort by Congress to defuse the sectional and political rivalries triggered by the request of Missouri late in 1819 for admission as a state in which slavery would be permitted. As a compromise Missouri was admitted as a slave state and Maine was admitted as a free state.

    John Quincy Adams went on to win the presidency in a highly contentious election in 1824, and served only one term.
    This election is notable for being the only time since the passage of the Twelfth Amendment in which the presidential election was decided by the House of Representatives, as no candidate received a majority of the electoral vote.

    The Erie Canal construction started on July 4, 1817 and was completed on Oct 26, 1825. The Erie Canal is an artificial waterway that connects the Hudson River to Lake Erie. Built to create a navigable water route from New York City and the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes.

    The Battle of the Alamo (February 23 – March 6, 1836) was a pivotal event in the Texas Revolution. It was fought between the Republic of Texas and Mexico and the Republic of Texas won.

    The Trail of Tears
    In 1838 and 1839 Andrew Jackson's Indian removal policy, the Cherokee's were forced to give up their land east of the Mississippi and migrate to present day Oklahoma. Over 20,000 Cherokees were forced to march westward along the Trail of Tears. About a quarter of them died along the way.

It consisted of 5 separate bills: It consisted of laws admitting California as a free state, creating Utah and New Mexico territories with the question of slavery in each to be determined by popular sovereignty, settling a Texas-New Mexico boundary dispute in the former’s favor, ending the slave trade in Washington, D.C., and making it easier for southerners to recover fugitive slaves.

    Dred Scott decision, a legal case in which the U.S. Supreme Court on March 6, 1857, ruled (7–2) that a slave (Dred Scott) who had resided in a free state and territory was not thereby entitled to his freedom; that African Americans were not and could never be citizens of the United States; and that the Missouri Compromise, which had declared free all territories west of Missouri and north of latitude 36°30′, was unconstitutional.
