War had been declared and panic struck and many Russian did not have papers to leave the country. But at least they were able to get on boat headed to America. -

Both companies continued to work but then they started to have conflicts. -
1944
Ballet crossed over into Broadway in 1944 , choreographed George Balachine. Then 12 years later he left the Ballet Russe de Monte-Carlo. -
Hurok and Basil
The companies started talking again to arrange for the company to return to America. Basil hired new dancers not as qualified or technically proficient , which left the company in worse shape and there last performance was in Nov of 1948.
