The South Secedes

The south wanted to leave the union. The south wanted to be free, since they did not want slavery to end. They were rebelling against Abraham Lincoln since they wanted the slavery to expand and abraham didnt want that.

Attack for Sumter

On april the South had warned the North to get out of their fort since it was by their land and they shouldnt be there once the north refused to leave the south attacked them and the North ended up giving upp after a few hours in the battle and the south won this battle.

Battle: of Bull Run

Jul 21, 1861

First Battle of Bull Run( first Manassas The North marched all the way to the North with 35000 men to attack the south close by a river which was called Bull Run. After a day of fighting the North retreated and the south won the battle with just 20000 men which gave the south confidence.

Battle of Shiloh

The Battle of the Seven Pines (Fair Oaks)

The South wanted to remove the North out of where they were located at. McClellan did not know how to put his army in position for the attack.

Battle of Antietam

The south was winning this battle in the begininnig but then towards the end North was able to defeat the South. Since they made the south retreat. This battle made the North more confident.

Emancipation Proclamation

Abraham Gets re-elected

Abraham Lincoln gets re-elected and that is when he truly shows how he felt toward slavery. At first he didn't but since this was his last term he told everyone he was against slavery and wanted an end to it.
