V-E Day (Victory in Europe)
Victory In Europe was the day that World War 2 was over. It was time to celebrate for Great Britain and the United States. They made and put up Flags and banners after crushing the nazi party in a cruel war. This day was when the troops who participated in WW2 layed down there guns and celebrated there wonderful victory. The nazi lost over 10,000 soliders in the war and gave up. This day was a great win for Great Britain and the United States. V-E Day was 5 years before the cold war. -
VJ Day (Victory Over Japan) / Atomic Bombs
Japan surrender the war with the U.S. They couldnt take our blows. We had blows to major cities while they hit lsmall places such as Hawii. The U.S bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki within 3 days back to back. Approximatly 230,000 people died from these atomic bombs. killed more than half when dropped and the rest were killed by the gas from the atomic bombs. Japan did an attack on hawii aswell but it wasnt as deadly becuase it was small still killing thousands though. VJ Day represents our win. -
A Wall Divides Berlin
The tensions started 5 years after V-E Day. Europe and Japan were a team, and the U.S and Soviet Union was a team. These 2 teams had alot of nuclear planet and could kill and injure many people. Berlin was the first problem that they wanted to reslove. This place was half democratic and half communist so poor and unhappy with communism went to the other side and that was aproblem one side was overly populated while the other wasnt. East Germany built a huge wall blocking off the West side. -
Korean War
75,000 North Korean soliders went onto 38th parallel which was a boundary at the time and went straight for South Korea. America got the news and American troops poured in to assist the unprepared South Korea. It was all over communism this was a huge brawl. Killings left and right. The war had alot of technology in it. They used mainly things that shot explosives or blew up. Grenades, grenade launchers, tanks, and many more types of new technologies. The war ended with 5 million dead or hurt. -
Eastern Europe Rethinks
More tension erupts as close to 50,000 workers came up to talk to the Soviet army in the streets of the Germanys capital Berlin. They were brought down by the Soviet armys tanks and warships. They all wanted economic refore for there countries of Poland and Hungary. They needed economic reform becuase there goverment system was crumbling in many different ways so they did poles to see what people wanted them to do. -
Nuclear Weapons
After World War 2 both teams were armed and dangerous. Both teams had deadly nuclear weapons which could have been bad depending on whose hands it was in. In 1949 the U.S was the only ones who had and new about nuclear power.By 1953 and alot of studying both teams had different bombs and different nuclear power that could kill thousands. Both teams went into the "balance of terror". Each team new what they had on each other a commen bomb they shared was a hydrogen bond. -
Berlin Wall Topples
1989 the goverment finally let the east Germans do as they please and let them leave if they wanted to. They would be punished if caught trying to go over the tall wall. Most wouldnt make it because the wall was 12ft tall and 97 miles long. witha barb-wired top. These new rules were great they could finally expand. Moving there families, better trade options and many more things that they didnt have in there area. The wall was brought down for the better.
