The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in support of the communist government against the anti-communist muslim guerilla fighters to promote more communism instead of democracy. -
Berlin Wall Comes Down
East German spokesman Günter Schabowski said the Berlin wall would be able to be taken down and Berlin would be reunified under democracy.
