    The Soviet Union and the U.S. were involved.
    The cold war was a rivalry between the U.S. and U.S.S.R. where they competed for influence around the world but did NOT fight each other directly. The event took place in Europe and America, mainly in Germany as well, and happened after WW2. This event was important to history because it was what caused several other events to happen, as well as a rivalry. The cold war impacted politics because it was a rivalry between the U.S. and the Soviets.

    Elvis was a famous singer from the 50's. His music genre was mainly rock and roll, and at the time people thought his dancing and songs were too inappropriate for society. Elvis lived in the U.S. The event is important to history because his style was new to society, and he ended up becoming famous and a house hold name. Elvis Presley impacted society because girls would swoon over him, while some other people disliked him because of his style.

    Vietnam, U.S., and Soviet Union was involved.
    The Vietnam War was a war between North Vietnam, allied other communists, and South Vietnam, allied with non-communists. This event took place in Vietnam. This event is important to history because it was a battle within Vietnam, but was also the soviets against the U.S. The Vietnam war impacted politics and society because it affected the countries around Vietnam, especially Cambodia, and was apart of the rivalry between the U.S. and the Soviets.

    In December of 1955, Rosa Parks took a stand for African American rights. The rules of the bus during this time period was that African Americans would have to give their seat up for a White person, but Rosa Parks refused and ended up getting arrested. The event happened in Alabama. This event is important to history because she was one of the first people to take a stand, and after many people began to stand up as well. Rosa impacted society because she stood up for African American rights.

    Soviets and German Citizens were involved
    Millions of civilians in East Germany escaped by going to Berlin. So, to prevent them from leaving, the Soviets built a wall.
    The event took place in Germany, near Berlin.
    This event is important to history because it affected the citizens in Berlin and East Germany, and involved the Soviets during the Cold War.
    The Berlin wall impacted society because citizens who didn't want to live in East Germany under communist rule no longer had a place to go.

    U.S. and the Soviets were involved.
    The event was a confrontation between the U.S. and the Soviets, about U.S. missile deployment in Italy and Turkey, and Soviet missile deployment in Cuba. This event took place in Cuba. The event is important to history because it was the closest event in the Cold War where things could have escalated into a full blown war. The Missile Crisis affected politics, because it was the confrontation between U.S. and Soviets, and led to the withdraw of the missiles.

    Man Lands on the Moon
    Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and NASA were involved.
    In 1957, Russia had already sent a satellite into space. At that time period that was very hard to do, so JFK promised to get a man on the moon, to get an advantage. In 1969, Nixon's term, NASA accomplished that goal. This event is important to history because at this time period, a man on the moon was a huge deal. This event impacted society because it was a great accomplishment by people, and gave the U.S. and advantage over the soviets.

    Kent State Massacre
    Protesters and Ohio officials were involved. The Kent State Massacre was a shooting of unarmed college students who were protesting the Vietnam War. The protesters refused to leave, and ended up getting shot at by officials. The Massacre happened in Kent, Ohio. This event is important to history because it was a horrible thing in society that happened. The Massacre impacted society because it killed 4 people and wounded several others, and 2/4 people were walking by, and caused grief.

    In 1981, Ronald Reagan became the president of the U.S. He had plans to change the economy for the U.S., mainly by lowering taxes through Reaganomics, and used government spending on military. It took place in the U.S. This event is important to history because Reagan changed the economy of the U.S. during the Cold War Era. Reagan becoming president impacted society and politics because he changed the economy, and he was a Republican president that came into office after a Democratic one.
  • Persian Gulf War

    Persian Gulf War
    Iraq, Kuwait, U.S and Arab powers were involved.
    Iraq leader, Saddam Hussein, invaded Kuwait. Arab powers in Egypt called on the U.S. for help. Hussein refused to stop invasion, causing war. The event took place mostly in Kuwait.
    This event is important to history because it was a war between the U.S. and other countries, and Iraq.
    The Persian Gulf War impacted politics because it was a war between countries, and also impacted the society in Kuwait.
  • 9/11

    9/11
    U.S. and the Terrorist group Al-Quaeda were involved.
    On September 11, terrorist group Al-Quaeda, led by Osama bin Laden, organize a hijacking of commercial airliners to crash into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. This event took place in NYC and D.C. 9/11 is important to history because it is one of the biggest terrorist attacks to ever happen in the U.S. 9/11 impacted society because it killed thousands of people, and caused the World Trade Center to collapse.
  • Barack Obama Inauguration

    Barack Obama Inauguration
    In 2009, Barack Obama, the 44th president of the U.S., was inaugurated into the Presidential office.The event took place in the U.S. This event is important to history because he was the first African American president to get elected into office. Barack Obama's inauguration impacted politics and economy because he was the new president of the U.S., and his political ideas were used to change the economy.
