Edgar Allan Poe was the son of David Poe, an actor and Eliza Poe, an actress. Poe also had a sister. His sister Rosalie has no solid documentary evidence for this claim though. -

Andrew Jackson stepped into Office taking the place as President after John Quicy Adams. His term lasted from March 4th of 1829 until Marth 4th of 1837. At the time he was elected into office Poe was 20 years old.

Poe finally recieves a job at the age of 26. Edgar Allan Poe's first real job was an editor for a newspaper. Poe got the job because he won a contest for writing a story called, The Manuscript Found in a Bottle" this was in 1835. -

Edgar Allan Poe married his 13-year-old cousin, Virginia Clemm. At the time he was 27-years-old. In the marrige license her age was listed differently. Their only public ceremony was in Richmond on May 16, 1836. She died at the age of 24, on January 30, 1847. Her death was caused by an illiness she had for five years. -
"Ligeia"
Poe wrote the "Ligeia" at the age of 29, in 1838. This short story fell under the Geners of Romantic novel, Horror, and Gothic Fiction. The story follows an unnamed narrator and his wife Ligeia, a beautiful and intelligent raven-haired woman.

Another theory of Edgar Allan Poe's death was rabies. In the final stages of rabies, it is common for people to have periods of confusion that come and go, along with wide swings in pulse rate and other body functions, such as respiration and temperature. Poe was brought to the Washington Hospital of Baltimore on the night of October 6, 1849 after being found in the middle of the road. He could of be mugged that night in the streets of Baltimore. He died the next day. -

One Theory is Alcohol. For a long time it was assumed that he died of liver failure brought on by a life of drunken excess. -

Baltimore Ravens formed their team name from Poe's poem "The Raven". A contest was held to determine the new name of the team that had moved to Baltimore, the name Ravens won over.
