The essence of the experiment
The purpose of the experiment is to show that quantum mechanics is incomplete without some rules that specify under what conditions is the collapse of the wave function and the cat either becomes dead or remains alive, but ceases to be a mix of both. How it all began

"Dead and alive"
According to quantum mechanics, if the kernel is not the observation, its state is described by superposition (mixture) of two States — decayed nuclei and neraspavshemsya kernel, hence, the cat sitting in a box, alive and dead at the same time.
