  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration was mainly written by Thomas Jefferson. After two weeks, the Declaration was passed. Britain did not accept however, and that is how the Revolutionary War.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase
    During the early 1800's America expanded. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark set out to explore the west. They ended up buying a huge chunk of territory recently owned by France.
  • The Trail Of Tears

    The Trail Of Tears
    Jackson passed the Indian Removal Act in 1830, causing all Native Americans to either move or follow the state laws. Some of the Native Americans opposed it, but they were thrown out of their homes in the middle of winter, being forced to make their way to Oklahoma during the long winter. 25% died during the journey.
  • The Alamo

    The Alamo
    The Alamo was a fortress that Texas and Mexico fought over during the Texas Revolution. Texas held off Mexico for 12 days, but on the 13th Mexico sent a huge troop over to the Alamo. A grand total of 183 defenders of Alamo died. Over 1,00 Mexicans were killed.
  • The California Gold Rush

    The California Gold Rush
    Due to a shortage of money, California was on the verge of losing a war with Mexico. carpenter found gold in a river by a mill being built. Very soon, It attracted thousands of Americans and people from all over the world to California. It was deemed the California Gold Rush. The amount of gold in California was estimated to be able to "pay the cost of the war with Mexico a hundred time over", which is why the discovery was made into a huge deal.
  • The Attack on Fort Sumter

    The Attack on Fort Sumter
    After slavery was banned, the southern states got furious. They started to break away and riot. Finally, they decided to attack Fort Sumter. The whole town watched as the civil war began.
  • World War 1

    World War 1
    World War 1 began when Great Britain declared attack on Germany. It lasted for approximately 4 years. 20 million soldiers on both of the sides were wounded.
  • Panama Canal Opening

    Panama Canal Opening
    The construction of the canal began in 1904. Workers did endure some harsh conditions. Over 6,00 lives ended up being lost. The world finally had it's 'highway between the oceans'.
  • Brown V. Board of Education

    Brown V. Board of Education
    After years of black and white being separated, a black student's parents sued for her not being able to attend the white school. Brown won the case, enabling the segregation to vanish and for schools to merge. Even though at first it was a difficult change, school became as we know it today.
  • Taylor Swift's Birthday

    Taylor Swift's Birthday
    Taylor Allison Swift was born on this day in Reading, PA. 15 years later, she began a career in country and pop music.
  • 9/11 Tragedy

    9/11 Tragedy
    September 11th 2001, a group of terrorists took control of four planes. They crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. A total of 2,500 lives were lost.
