    Battle of Atlantic
    Battle of Atlantic was the war's longest battle. German & Italian navies went against the Allies. This battle became a navy based fight, where most of the U-boat conflict occured at night, these ships were called the "wolfpack". The British navy recieved 50 warships from America which would later give them the upper hand in 1941. The capture of U-110 (complete with Enigma machine and codes) in March 1941 The capture of U-110, with Enigma machine & helped the Allies track the movement.
  • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain
    First major military campaign to be fought completely in air. The Battle of Britain was a struggle between the German Luftwaffe and the British Royal Air Force. Luftwaffe’s first disadvantage was that it was neither trained nor equipped for the long range operations. During the 12 week battle, 1,733 German aircraft had been destroyed, compared to 915 British fighters. On September 17, Hitler recognised his loss and postponed indefinitely the invasion of Britain.

    Took place near the Egyptian railway of El Alamein. Aliied victory marked a major turning point in the Western Desert Campaign. This battle halted European nations from taking over the Middle East and capitalizing on their resources. Battle coincided with the invasion of French North Africa Operation Torch. First major offensive of the Acis Powers since the beginning of World War II.

    Operation Torch
    Operation Torch was the name given to the Allied invasion of French North Africa, the first invasion that the U.S. and Britain worked together on. Roosevelt wanted a simple battle to appease the American people and be an easy victory, so North Africa was his first choice.. Under the command of General George Patton, American troops waded ashore waving the stars and stripes in hopes that the Vichy would not fire on them, but they did.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    The battle began with the German air force bombing the Volga River and the then the city of Stalingrad. They reduced much of the city to rubble. Soon the German army moved in and was able to take a large portion of the city. However, the Soviet troops were not ready to give up. Soviets hid all over the city, in buildings and even the sewers, attacking the German soldiers. The Soviets gathered and made a counter attack & trapped the Germans leaving them with little food. Germany surrendered.

    Britain and the United States had managed to slow down the expanding German forces. They were now able to turn on the offensive. Germans knew an invasion was coming. The U.S. and Britain planned and Eisenhower finally let the troops attack. they almost didn't due to weather. Bombs all over Germany gave the 6,000Aliie ships carrying men, weapons, and resources plenty of time to get to Normandy.

    Largest battle fought on the Western Front in Europe during World War II. It was a German offensive intended to drive a wedge between the American and British armies in France. The Germans lost some 100,000 men killed, wounded and missing, 700 tanks and 1,600 aircrafts. Adolf Hitler gambled on the Ardennes Offensive, and he lost.
  • Hitler's Suicide

    Hitler's Suicide
    The Russian troops were advancing and Hitler began to feel the heat. On Apirl 30th, he went into his bunker and put a gun in his mouth. He pulled the trigger leaving the German army and the country alone, without rule or guidance.
  • VE Day

    VE mark the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender of its armed forces. It thus marked the end of World War II in Europe.
