  • Proclamation of 1763

    No settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains.Colonist continued to most west anyway.

    Halved the duty on foreign made molasses. Placed duties on certain imports. Strengthened law enforcement on smuggling. Colonist disagreed with the British more and more on how they should be taxed.

    Authorized British commanders to house soldiers in vacant and private homes. Colonists could not do anything about it.

    Required colonist to purchase special paper for every legal document. Colonist who disobeyed were tried in the vice-admiralty court, were convictions were probable.
