Ancient Olympic Games and the first steam machine
The most outstanding thing in the Antiquity is the Ancient Olympic Games located in Greece ,where many people come from all over Italy. The first steam machine was invented in the 1st century AD by the Hero of Alexandria. -

IX-XIX-XX Century
In these centuries there were a lot of invents that were made to increase the tourism:
- In 1841, Thomas Cook organiced the first trip of the history.
And thanks to this, it was created the first Travel Agency "Thomas Cook and Son" in 1851.
-In 1867, it was invented the voucher.
- The plane was developed in December 17, in 1903.
Another revolutionary invention was the "Compass", invented in China in the IX Century with the purpose to determine the directions in the open sea. -

Policy and Tourism
- When the First World War started, there were a million of cars for all the american tourist that came to Europe. This fomented the coast tourism. The Second Worl War paralyzed all the tourism in the world, and then in 1950 and 1973 started the tourism boom.
- The Treaty of Maastricht was in 1992 that allowed the free movement of people and goods between European citizenship. -The Schegen Agreement was in 1995, the borders controls were removed in the European Union
