    Vietnam was a 20 year long war between the U.S. and the Vietcong (the south part of the Vietnamese people). U.S. goal was to kill of communism before it spread around the world. The divisive war ended because U.S. took their troops out of the war back in 1973. More than 3 million people were killed in the war and there were 58,000 American lives lost in the war.

    Rosa Parks, a black woman, was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white man. This action had rallied many citizens, mostly African Americans, to join a movement, led by Martin Luther King Jr, to give Africans Equality. Martin Luther gives his "I Have A Dream" speech to convince people that everyone should have equality.

    The hippies were "drop-outs" of the normal american society. All of them had crazy clothing and believed in complete free style things such as Sexual freedom and religious freedom. Were very big drug addicts that loves rock music, Marijuana, and LSD.

    JFK was elected as the 35th president back in 1960. JFK was going around the states to convince people to vote for him in the next upcoming election. In Dallas of Texas JFK was shot during a drive by in the plaza. He was shot in the back of the head and in the throat by a man named Lee Harvey Oswald.

    Lyndon Baines Johnson had become president in 1963 after the JFK assassination. Cam up with the "Great Society" which was a set of domestic programs that were attempting to end poverty and racial injustice.     Almost exactly 9 months after WW2 had ended the Baby boom had begun. Around 1952 there were approximately 3.9 million babies being born. In 1964 there were then approximately 76.4 babies born which was nearly 40 percent of the entire nations population.

    Huey Newton and Bobby Seale, citizens of Oakland, California, made up the Black Panther Party. The Black Panthers were a violent group who were against white oppression. They attacked people in an attempt to free blacks from segregation.
  • RFK assassination

    Robert F Kennedy, brother of John F Kennedy, was the Attorney General during JFK's presidential term. After JFK was assassinated RFK had become a US senator.     In the 1980s kids were required to have at least an IQ of 85 to attend public schools. Forrest Gump's IQ was too low to attend public schools which was unfair. A major education reform was led in order to allow special students attend public schools with everyone else and share the experiences.
