A group of 9 African American students enrolled in Little Rock Central High School.This was a formally all-white high school and Governor Orval Faubus ordered the National guard to prevent the black students from entering. However, Eisenhower had to send federal troops to help escort the Little a Rock Nine into the school.

This was a counterculture movement that rejected the norms of American life. The movement started on college campuses in the US.
