  • The Decloration of Independence

    The Decloration of Independence
    On the date in 1775 that British Colonies declared their independence from Britain creating the United States. This is also one of the major causes of the American Revolution. This is important because it is very important to America.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase was bought from the United States for $15 million. The Louisiana caused a lot of Native Americans to move cause it took up some of their territory. The purchase made two major impacts, such as, it doubles the size of our nation and they took control over the Mississippi River. France sold the territory to the United States.
  • The Lewis and Clark Journey West

    When Lewis and Clark were out on their journey out West they hired a French Trapper to act as an interpreter. They hired Sacagawea. They left during Summer of 1803. When Sacagawea came with them they had a big advantage. Their advantage was that since she knew more languages it would help them with the Native Americans. They also had a great advantage because on their way they made more maps and discovered more species of plants and animals. By the middle of it, it was winter. They got there .

  • The Texas War for Independence.

    Mexico wanted Texas to be a self-govern state in Mexico. Austin then wrote back and said no. Their requirements weren't met. So they called for war. During the rebellion, Texans said to Mexico to come and get the cannon. They didn't. There ended up being another fight going on. Juan Seguin surrendered. 1,800 men went over to fight. More than 1,000 Mexican troops had fallen. About 183 Alamo's had died. it was tough trying to defend themselves from Mexico.

    The Attack on Fort Sumter
    Fort Sumter was attacked by Confederate Troops. The officials commanded that they should leave. The fort's commander refused they leave. Everyone had to be on their feet for a long period of time. After 34 hours of all the war happening, Fort Sumter surrendered. This was known as the Civil War. That was important to learn because this was a big event that happened and os many people have died.

    The 19th Amendment
    People thought women should not be able to vote. They thought they should only be able to be homemakers and mothers, not politically active citizens. Elizabeth Cady and Susan B. Anthony founded the (NAWSA) to change something about women's suffrage. In that year they won against, Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah. Later, the women finally won, and now all women are aloud to vote. It's pretty important because women had a big effect on all women.

    The Supreme Case: Brown v The Board of Education
    A 9 year old girl was going to school. It's a little different than ours today because they separated the whites and the blacks. It wasn't fair at all. She had to walk across town just to get to school. Then in 1954 it became illegal. So they brought them together. This something everyone should learn because everyone should be treated equally. No one should be treated differently by how they look. It's important because now we have all come together. It has totally changed since then.

    Betty authored the book " The Feminine Mystique". This book she wrote was about women. Women wanted to end up being more than a wife or a mom. They wanted to be more than those things. They wanted to have a job. It's pretty important to learn about because women had to go through a lot back in the day. They couldn't have a real job or couldn't vote. Women made a bog difference in this world. It's important to know that women had a big difference on everyone.
  • JFK Assassinated

    JFK Assassinated
    In Dallas, Kennedy was riding in a convertible to wave to his supporters. All of a sudden he got shot. Lee Harvey Oswald got arrested for the shooting. After a little in the hospital, he passed. Everyone was shocked. No one really understood why. So after that Lyndon B. Johnson became president. JFK was a very important president to us.
  • The Disability Rights Movement

    The Disability Rights Movement
    Judy Heumann and other created the Disabled in Action. People with disabilities usually don't get jobs very easily. The work the DIA did turned into a law. In 1973 federal agencies from discriminating against people that have any type of disability. That also helped in 1975. How it helped was The Education of Handicapped Children Act actually made a school for those kids that can't get jobs. And that helped out by outlawing all discrimination against people with disabilities.

    The Cold War Ends
    During the cold war people were complaining there wasn't enough freedom. So the people against that decided to jump the Berlin Wall. It came out in a big fight. The leader Boris Yeltsin told the protesters to stand strong and fight. That's what ended the Cold War. It it so different to hear about that back then and now. Now we have lots of freedoms. It has made a big change. It's pretty important to learn about the Cold War because now we have tons of freedom.

    September 11th, 2001
    In this event about 2,500 people died. How they dies was, hijackers flew planes into the twin towers in New York City. The tallest building collapsed. It was very devastating to all of us hearing that happen. I feel like this tragedy is something good to hear about because it remembers us of all those innocent people have been hurt. Importance is totally something that comes to this.

    My Birthday! Yay! This is the day I was born. I was a brand new daughter to my mom. I was a new sister to my actual sister! I think my birthday is important because i get to be another year older.
