  • Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration was made to bring together the 13 colonies to form the USA. Men came together to write this important document. It is important because it set up America today.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase was a large piece of land that was bought by Thomas Jefferson in 1803 for $15 million.
  • The Underground Railroad

    The Underground Railroad
    Harriet Tubman runs away as a slave. He comes back and starts helping slaves escape through the "Underground Railroad" This is important because it gives motivation, and inspires people today.
  • Cotton Problems

    Cotton Problems
    Great Britain starts buying cotton from Egypt instead of from the Confederate. This means that the Confederate will not have some of the money it did to buy resources
  • Fort Sumter

    Fort Sumter
    Fort Sumter is attacked by confederate troops at the beginning of the civil war. It is important because it was early in the war.

    This was the fist battle won by the Confederates in the civil war. This is important because it gives the Confederate momentum to win the next battle.

    This name came from a novel named, "The Gilded Age". This book looks at the inequality between wealthy business owners who profit from the industrial revolution.
  • Brown V. Board of Education

    Brown V. Board of Education
    They were trying to get a little African American girl named Linda Brown into an all white school. Linda is forced to attend a school across town, and much farther away than the all white school. Linda's parents sue them, and schools start to slowly allow more races to attend their schools. This was important to the present day because if that didn't happen then we might not have some of the friends we have now.
  • Rosa Parks

    Rosa Parks
    Rosa Parks was told to find a different bus seat based on her ethnicity. She refused, and sat in that seat. This is important because it lead to more cases where African Americans stand up for themselves.
  • 9/11

    9/11
    This was the day that the twin towers got hit by planes. Terrorists hijacked the planed and crashed them into the towers. This event took the lives of many people, leaving their families to mourn for them.
