  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    On this day, the Declaration of Independence was signed by many famous men in the United States of America. The Declaration of the thirteen united States of America was unanimous. It gave the people of the country laws and independence. It also gave what we all have today, the Rights of Life, Liberty, and Happiness. This is event is important because it made the country we live in today.
  • The Lewis and Clark Expedition

    The Lewis and Clark Expedition
    The Louisiana Purchase had just been made April 30, 1803 and Jefferson needed people to explore it. So, he hired two men named Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. They explored the interior parts of America. They started a friendship with a young Native woman, Sacagawea. She and other Natives helped the two explorers throughout the journey. The importance of this event was that it expanded the knowledge of the West parts of America.
  • The Donner Party

    The Donner Party
    The Donner Party was a group of people that were traveling west and led off trail. They thought they were going through an easier route to get to their destination. The route was not all it was said to be. They experienced a snow storm and trapped their for a long time. They began to go into starvation and looked to their last result: cannibalism. This event is important because it shares a time where Americans had to go through hard times.

    California Gold Rush
    One day, a man, James W. Marshall discovered a nugget of gold and people from all over the world found out. Mexicans, Irish, Germans, Chinese, and Americans traveled from their homes to California. Every single day, people showed up for gold. This event is important because it brought the Western Movement to grow economically, geographically, and politically.
  • The Attack on Fort Sumter

    The Attack on Fort Sumter
    Fort Sumter, a federal outpost in Charleston, South Carolina, was attacked by Confederate troops, which began the Civil War. The Confederate chose to do this because they wanted to destroy the fortress. This was the beginning of the Civil War. The fort had to surrender in the end of the 34 hours. This is important because this started the bloodiest war in U.S. history.
  • The Mexican Revolution

    The Mexican Revolution
    The Mexican Revolution was a long violent struggle for power in Mexico. This affected the U.S. interest because people in America invested $1 billion in Mexican oil, railways, mining, and land. The Mexican people rebelled against the Mexican dictator Porfirio Diaz. Mexicans fled to the United States of America since their was violence. 1917, Mexico began to contain order. The revolution lasted between 1910-1920. It brought relationships through conflicts and agreements between the two countries.
  • The Great Depression

    The Great Depression
    The United States of America went through a hard time where the people had to sell everything they had to survive. Many people were unemployed and not happy about it. People believe the cause of the Great Depression was a government's monetary policy. Several others believe it was the overproduction of goods. This event happened after World War 1 and approximately happened between 1929 to 1939. This event is important because it proves that the U.S got better in the future and get stronger.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    On this event, the Japanese attacked the people of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The reason for the attack was because the president at the time froze Japanese funds and cut off exports to Japan during July 1941. Later that same year, Japanese airplanes attacked the U.S. fleet. They killed more than 2,400 Americans and destroyed approximately 200 airplanes. 4 years later, the U.S. dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. This event is important since it began wars that brought peace.
  • The Supreme Case: Brown v. The Board of Education

    The Supreme Case: Brown v. The Board of Education
    Thurgood Marshall led the cases on segregation. The courtroom battles of segregation were put under Brown v. Board of Education. Linda Brown, a seven year-old African American girl, went through this. Although,she lived close to a school for white children, she had to travel to get to a school for black children. On May 17th, 1954, the Supreme Court decided that segregation in public facilities is illegal. This is important because it opened the doors to successful opportunities.
  • Vietnam War

    Vietnam War
    The Vietnam War occurred between about November 1st, 1955- 1975. The Americans were not involved in the war at first until late 1963. They were involved because they send aid and began to help them. Then later, many American soldiers began to help and serve during the Vietnam War.
  • JFK Assassination

    JFK Assassination
    John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22nd, 1963. He was killed by a man named, Lee Harvey Oswald. Riding in a convertible, waving to supporters in the streets, shots were fired. President Kennedy was shot twice and died shortly afterward in a Dallas, Texas hospital. The claimed assassin was arrested by Dallas police. The former president served for fewer than three years. So vice president, Lyndon B. Johnson was quickly pledged as president. This event brought the Civil Rights Act.
  • September 11, 2001

    September 11, 2001
    On this tragic day, approximately 2,500 people were killed while being in the World Trade Center. Terrorist used four airlines and attacked two sites in the U.S. They attacked the two towers who were the tallest in the nation and the building started to crumble, in New York City. The Pentagon outside of Washington D.C. was also attacked. This event is important because of the mark it has on U.S. history and the people that experienced it.
