Clay tablets were used in Mesopotamia. 22,000 tablets were found at Nineveh dating from 700 BC and were believed to be the archive and library of the kings of Assyria. -

Parchment replaced Papyrus and was made from the skin of cows and sheep. It was more solid and allowed people to erase text. -

First sheet of paper was made by mulberry and other fibers. Paper was first used for wrapping and padding and wasn't used for writing until the 3rd century. -
