The Voyage of the Mayflower
A group of pilgrims sailed form England to America (the New World), on the Mayflower. They left England because they wanted the freedom. The long and difficult journey across the Atlantic Ocean during 65 days. -
The view of land
The Mayflower reached land and some pilgrims left to explore the area. They saw a good place and decided to built a village there.They build small houses and they grow vegetables and keep animals.They called the village Plymouth. -
Native American
The pilgrims met a Native American for the first time and he introduced them to his tribe. The Natives taught the pilgrims how to grow corn, beans and pumpkins. -
The British had 13 colonies.
The British had 13 colonies on the east of North America and about two and a half millions of colonists life there. France and Spain wanted the New World, too. -
The British Army
The British army and the colonists fought the French over land in North America.The British won the war and got some of the French land.The 13 colonies decided to join together to fight the British. -
The Declaration of Independence
The colonies declared independence from Great Britain. Their leaders published the Declaration of Independence on this date.
The colonists led by Washinton (George) fought many long, difficult battles. In the en they defeated the British.
They called their new nation United States of America (USA). -
Expansion and the Civil War
The French still owned some land to the west colonies. In 1803 Napoleon (the French Emperor) sold the land to the Thomas Jefferson (the president of the USA) for $15 and they signed de Louisiana Purchase Agreement. People started to move west. By 1848 the country extended from the Atlantic to Pacific Ocean. -
The suffering of USA
The Native American poplation began to suffer. Their land and traditions were in danger. The US Governement created the first Indian territory called Oklahoma. Around 4,000 Cheroke people died on the way from Oklahoma to Georgia. They called this journey "Trail of Tears". -
The American Civil War
Abraham Lincoln is now the President of the USA. The south has got their Confederacy. It's got 11 states now. Richmond is the capital. Confederate soldiers attacked the Union. So now, we're at war.
This war is terrible. Thousands of people are dead.
Today, General Robert E.Lee, surrendered to General Ulysses. It's the end of the war! Now, the slaves are free and the country are one nation.
