    Amerigo Vespucci discovers America
    Amerigo Vespucci was a Italian map maker and financier but he was the first person to realize that South America and the West indies were not part of India was Amerigo Vespucci. Being acclaimed as the first person to "Discover" America the named the new found land after his Latin name Americus . This is important as it was the first time America was known by the Europeans.     Columbus discovers the new land
    on October 12 1492 Christopher Columbus a Spanish explorer discovered the new land. At first he thought it was the land of India but he didn't realize he was actually in southern American islands. This date is important in us history as it is the first time the Europeans discover land in the western hemisphere. (Society)

    America Rediscovered

    America Rediscovered
    On June 24 1497 America is rediscovered by Britain and the explorer John Cabot. This is the first time Europe has found the America's in their society. From their he explores the coast and puts flags in to claim the land for Great Britain. He soon returns but not without taking resources from the Newfound Land. This date is important as its the first time Europeans discovered America. (Society)

    Jamestown, The first permanent settlement
    Jamestown was the first permanent settlement in the new land. It was founded by the Virginia Company who came from Britain. The settlement had trouble starting off it as 80% of the colonists who lived in the settlement died from 1609 to 1610. After discovering the crop tobacco and what it did they grew a lot of it and sold it to Britain. They got a lot of money from tobacco as it was the thing that got the colony growing.This was important as its the first permanent settlement. (Society)

    The mayflower a ship carrying the puritans lands at Plymouth rock. The ship is full of the religious group the puritans who came to get religious freedom. While at sea on the mayflower the puritans created the mayflower compact it is the earliest form of government of the new land.     Boston Massacre
    A protest was happening in Boston when a shoe was thrown causing British troops to open fire among the American protesters killing 5 of them in total. This was important because it laid foundations for the revolutionary war. (protest)
  • Tea act and the Boston Tea Party

    Tea act and the Boston Tea Party
    After the British past a higher tax on tea for the colonists the colonists were rebelling against them to not get taxed so high. The sons of liberty entered a British ship got the barrels of tea and threw them overboard the ship ruining the tea. The British king was angry about that and implemented the "Intolerable acts" in 1774. This is important as it laid the foundations to the revolutionary war. (protest)

    Paul Revere's Midnight ride
    Paul Revere was a colonist mailman who on April 18th 1775 rode to Samuel Adams to warn him that British troops were actively marching to him the arrest him. During the ride he stopped at many patriots houses to warn them of the British march towards them. This is important for US history as it was one of the major points before the revolutionary war.     The battles of Lexington and Concord
    The first battle in the Revolutionary war was the battle of Lexington and concord. Here there was a standoff between the British and the colonists and one side fired a shot causing both sides to open fire at each other and the lead to the Britain retreat.     Quartering Act
    After the colonists dumped the tea into the harbor Britain powers were outraged and past the quartering act. The Quartering Act required the colonists to house feed and work for British soldiers who wanted to sleep in their house. This is important because it laid foundations for the revolutionary war.     On this date the Declaration of Independence was signed by the Founding Fathers in secrecy as the first document of the new nation and what they would do when they got free from British. This date was important as it was the first document of freedom. (Government)

    The battle of Saratoga
    At Saratoga the British troops lead by john Burgoyne were defeated and had to surrender. This was a major turning point in the war because it was the battle that convinced French to join the war in favor of the colonists. This was important for America as it was the battle that lead them to victory. (protest)

    Revolutionary war ends
    On this day the revolutionary war officially ended. All the armed conflicts between the British and the colonists stopped. The war had already officially been won at the battle of Yorktown, Virginia but the conflicts didn't stop until September 3 1783.     On September 29th 1789 the United States Army was founded. When it was formed it was the first and only way America had of truly defending itself as it was the first branch of the military founded for the States.     On October 27 1795 the treaty of Pickney was signed. This treaty defined and created the borders of the United States and to where they land was stretched to. This is important for Us history as it was when America defined its border with Canada. (Society/Government)

    On May 2 1803 Thomas Jefferson signed a document from Napoleon Bonaparte to purchase land. Thomas Jefferson bought a large sum of land for 11,250,000$. The land purchased ran all the way to the Mississippi river Adding 15 states to the nation. This is important in American History as it was when we added 15 states to the nation and gained a large amount of land (Government)

    Lewis and Clark begin their journey to the pacific
    On may 14 1804 Lewis and Clark begin their expedition to go explore the land beyond the Mississippi looking for a water route across the country. On their way they faced many different setbacks including fatigue, starvation, disease and native Americans. This is important for Us History as it was the first time America mapped out the land beyond the Mississippi river. (Society)

    Lewis and Clark return home
    On September 23 1806 Lewis and Clark return to St. Louis and the 8000 mile journey was over. It took them over 2 years to travel the journey there and back. They traveled on horseback on boat and by foot the entire journey. This is important for Us History as this was when they returned to their land and had the map of the rest of the Us. (Society)

    In 1808 the slave trade was formerly ended. They no longer traded slaves from Africa to America. Even though that the Slave Trade ended they still traded slaves in America and had a large supply of slaves so they were not dependent on the slave trade for slaves.     On June 18 1812 the war of 1812 began. The war was being fought after the Britain refused to leave our country along with them starting conflicts against the Americans and Native Americans.     On December 24 1814 The treaty of Ghent was signed in Ghent. It caused the war of 1812 to finally be over even though armed conflicts didn't stop until June 18 1815. This is important for American History as it was when America got Britain to leave. (Government)
  • The Missouri Compromise

    The Missouri Compromise
    The Missouri Compromise was bill that was passed in 1820. Tensions between anti slavery and slavery had been rising many years before they passed the rule. They made it so that whenever a slavery state enters the union the next would be anti slavery while also having a vice versa effect. This is important because it was one of the events that led to the civil war. (Government)

    The Anglo American settlers
    In the 1820's Mexico made a policy to attract farmers to Texas. Around 20,000 had immigrated to Texas by the year 1835. The American settlers now outnumbered the Mexicans 5 to 1. Immigration continued to happen and Mexico sent troops to the border to enforce the policy. This is important because the land they live on later becomes Texas. (Social)

    On May 28 1830 President Andrew Jackson signed an act removing the Native American from their land. This lead to the trail of tears. This is important for US history as it was when the Native Americans were removed from their land and sent to territory west of the Mississippi river. (Society/Government)

    The telegraph was invented in 1832. This invention was very important for the US because it was one of the inventions that led to the Modern era. It was one of the main inventions that led to the Northern victory in the civil war later on. This is important for US history because it let messages travel faster. (Technology)

    On March 6 1836 the mexico assault against the Texan defenders started. In the conflict America lost between 182-257 people while mexico lost around 600 even though Mexico lost more people it still was a Mexican victory at the Alamo. This is important for US history as it was the battle that helped get Texas as part of the US. (Protest)

    The trail of tears begin
    In 1838 through 1839 the event known as the trail of tears had started. The Trail of Tears was the migration of the Native Americans to western land. The native Americans were being removed by force by American troops. Many Native Americans died on the journey, This is important for US history as it was what got the Native Americans off our land.     Westward Expansion with manifest Destiny
    During this time settlers moved westward pushing the Indians off of there land. They used religion as there excuse to claim the land for themselves. This drastically increased the population out west. In 1840 around 7 million settlers had already moved west.     On December 29 1845 Texas was annexed into the Union. After succeeding from Mexico and becoming its own country. When Texas joined the Union it entered as a slave state, which northerners were unhappy about. This is important for US history as it was when Texas joined the Union (Social)

    On January 24 1848 gold was discovered in California. This lead to the rapid migration of the US tot the west coast in hopes of finding gold. Once gold was discovered California quickly was annexed into the United States, even passing states that had been waiting many years to be annexed. This is important for US history as it was when the US spread its colonies to the West coast. (society)

    Uncle Tom's Cabin was published
    Uncle Tom's Cabin was a book about slavery depicting the terrors and the dehumanization of the slaves. The book became very popular in the north for its accurate depictions of slave life. This lead to many northerners to stop supporting the fugitive slave act. This is important for US history because it was one of the events that led to The Civil War. (protest/society)

    The Gadsden Purchase
    In 1853 a treaty was signed by both America and Mexico where America would pay 10 million to buy land from Mexico. The land purchased from Mexico later became parts of Arizona and New Mexico. This is important for US history as it was the event that led to two new states being added into the Union and acquiring land for those states. (Social)

    The Kansas Nebraska Act was an Act that allowed the states to vote on whether or not to have slavery in their state the act served to repeal the Missouri compromise and the 36* 30* compromise. The law made many anti slavery people angry and both the south and the North tried to cross state borders to vote. This is important for US history because it was one of the events that led to the Civil war (Government)
  • Dred Scott V Sandford

    Dred Scott V Sandford
    Dred Scott was a slave that had traveled to free states with his Master. While in the free states his slave master had died so Dred Scott tried to be free. His freedom was denied so he sued for it. The case reached supreme court where it was ruled that he was not free and that he was considered property. This outraged many Northerners. This event is important for US history because it was one of the events that led to The Civil War. (Government)

    Browns raid on Harper's ferry
    John Brown was an activist for anti slavery. He had many diverse ideas for how to free slaves. As an attempt to help free the slaves he raided an armory and tried to steal the guns to give it to the slaves so they could fight back. The raid failed and John Brown was executed. This lead to southern slave owners to be terrified that it almost succeeded and northerners to think of him as a hero. This is important because it was one of the events that led to the civil war.     Lincoln was elected
    In 1860 Lincoln went up against Douglas (who he had already lost to once) and won. After this victory most of the southern slavery states seceded from the Union because they believed Lincoln would take away slavery from them. This was the event that led to the split of the Union into the Union and the Confederacy. This is important for Us history because it was one of the events that led to the civil war. (Government)

    The Civil War begins on April 12 1861 when Confederate troops open fire at fort Sumter in south Carolina. After the fort was taken over by the confederate Abraham Lincoln called for 75,000 Northern troops to join the Union. This is important for US history because it was the day when the Civil war began.     The first battle of the civil war was fought near Washington D.C. It was the battle that told that the war wasn't going to be a short conflict like everybody had thought it was going to go. The Southern Confederacy won the battle and could have captured Washington D.C. if they were more organized. This is important for US history because it was the first battle of the war. (War)

    The battle of Antietam
    The battle of Antietam was a battle in the civil war that lead to the bloodiest day in the entire civil war. This was a battle where the south defended from the North. The battle ended in a draw but because of the southern retreat Lincoln considered it a northern victory. After this battle Lincoln was inspired and passed the Emancipation Proclamation. This was important for US history because it was the battle that got Lincoln to pass the Emancipation Proclamation. (War)

    The Emancipation Proclamation was passed
    The Emancipation Proclamation was a bill that was passed that made slavery illegal in all the Northern States. After it was passed many of the ex slaves went to fight for the Union in the Civil War. This later liberated all the slaves in the south also but at the time that this bill was passed they weren't part of the Union. This is important for US history because it was the act that led to Slaves being free all over the Nation. (Social)

    The battle of Gettysburg was the deadliest battle of the civil war over the 3 day battle over 10,000 people died. This battle was important because it was so violent to both sides.This resulted in a North victory. The battle was very famous for the war even Lincoln addressed it in the famous Gettysburg address. This was important for US history because it was the battle that set the Confederacy back. (War)

    The 13th Amendment was passed
    The thirteen Amendment was an Amendment passed by Lincoln that ended slavery in both the northern states, where slavery was already not aloud, and the South. The senate passed it in April of 1864 but it wasn't passed by the house until 1865. The is important for US history because it let all slaves be free. (Government)

    This was the final battle of the civil war. The battle took place in Texas. This was the battle where Ulysses Grant captured Robert E. Lee the southern general.     Assassination Of Abraham Lincoln
    On April 14th 1865 Lincoln was at a theater when he got shot. John Wilkes Booth came up behind Lincoln while he was watching the play and shot Lincoln. He was angry at Lincoln because Lincoln didn't punish the south after the Civil War. This is important for US history because it was the death of Lincoln. (Protest)

    The Ku Klux Klan was formed
    On December 24 1865 in Pulaski TN six veterans got together and formed the Ku Klux Klan. The Ku Klux Klan was a foundation that led to many protests and many violent acts against black people.This is important for US history because this is one of the most prominent protest groups in America.     The 14th Amendment was passed
    On July 9th 1868 the 14th amendment was passed. This was the amendment that aloud all people to be treated equally. Even though they were black they could no longer be discriminated against. This is important for US history because it got everybody to be equal. (Society)
  • The Transcontinental Railroad was completed

    The Transcontinental  Railroad was completed
    In 1869 the Transcontinental railroad was completed. This was an ongoing project that started before the civil war started and ended long after it ended. This was important because with this railroad that stretched across the US all the way to the pacific ocean people could now move out West very easily. This is important for US history because it was when Westward expansion was easy to be accomplished.(Travel)

    The 15th Amendment was passed
    The 15th amendment gave the right to vote to all people no matter their race or color. Even though it said all people could vote women still couldn't vote and black men had to go through a lot of tests just to vote that were designed to keep them from voting. This is important because it lead to everybody having voting rights

    On November 9th 2016 the best president of all time was elected. He later built the wall.
