Technology

How did you use Media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages.

  • Blogger

    Blogger
Blogger is the website I have used to present my work. It is very useful as it presents the work in an easy to look at format, and it allowed me to show the development over time of my media products and so came in very useful with the construction. It also has the use of labels which can be added to give more manueverability throughout the site. Blogger lets you add almost anything to the blog, videos, pictures, text and so it allowed me to create my work in a number of differant ways.

The Research stage of my music video
  • TubeChop

    TubeChop
I used TubeChop to cut out parts from music videos I wanted to talk about in my research, it is useful as it allowed me to add sections from the music video into my writing to show what I was talking about. However not all videos were availavle, luckily for me the videos I chose to use were all available.
  • Computer, with Intel i7 Core

    Computer, with Intel i7 Core
This was the computer I used throughout the year, I used it to edit, research an evaluate my music video and preliminary products. The computer worked well as it allowed me to insert my SD card straight into the computer without a card reader, however they were sometimes prone to freezing, or running slow, which meant I couldn't work as fast. However due to the i7 core the computer worked fast 99% of the time.
  • Canon digital Camera

    Canon digital Camera
This was the camera I used at the start of the year, I used it to film the 20 questions video, and the time-lapse research and planning. This camera worked very well for taking pictures, but would not work so well for time-lapses as it shut off after 15 minutes, therefore I used a much more advanced camera when filming the video. Therefore it was very useful for planning as I could plan out ideas easily, but for the actual construction I needed something more powerful.
  • YouTube

    YouTube
I used YouTube throughout all stages of my Media Coursework, to upload work and edits of my music video, I first used it here to upload my time lapse research, however I had used it before to look at videos that I analysed. This technology was very useful as it gave me an eay way to upload my work, and generates a embedded link, making it easy to link to my blog. Plus it lets you upload all video files to it, meaning I could put all my work on there, then embed it on blogger.
  • Survey Monkey

    Survey Monkey
I used this webste to show my Audience Research in a interesting way, showing the data through graphs and writing. As well a symbols. It is a very good website as it lets you portray information in an interesting way. However the ways you can present the information are limited and so I could only use the website for one thing, as I didn't want to use the same graphs for everything.

  • Powerpoint

    Powerpoint
I used powerpoint to upload my Music Video Treatment. Powerpoint is a good program to use as it allows you to give the steps you have taken to get to your product. It also gives a clear view, for example in my treatment it let me map out my ideas neat and perfectly. The only problem is that it is difficult to upload, I eventually managed to find the embedded code to put it unto my blog. Plus it limits you to how work is presented, and can be seen as boring in comparison to say prezi
  • Thinglink

    Thinglink
I used Thinglink to upload my mood board for my music video. It is a very useful site as it allows you to write annotations for each photo, which you can view by simply hovering over the picture. Therefore I was able to write about why I chose each picture, this really helped during the planning stage. However you cannot include lots of pictures as they all have to fit unto an A3 page, and so I could only include some of my photos.
  • Prezi

    Prezi
prezi, is a great website for showing work as it work almost like powerpoint, but it gives a more interactive presentation as you can drag around the screen to look at work, or follow the path the person has set for you. I did my casting through Prezi, and it gave me a great way to compare each of my choices, and was therefore very useful for the planning of my music video.
  • Facebook

    Facebook
I used facebook to talk to the Artist, who created the song for my music video. As I know the artist (Stef) he allowed me to use anything in the video, and preliminary task. Facebook allowed me to talk clearly with him and ask the questions I needed, so that I could begin work on my music video, without any copyright problems.
  • Premier Pro

    Premier Pro
I first used Premier Pro to edit together my Animatic storyboard. The platform is very useful as it gives a wide number of ways to edit the footage, I used it to change my music video from colour to black and white. However it has tendancies to freeze, or to crash randomly. Therefore it is always best to save regurlaly when using it.
  • SD Card

    SD Card
I used my SD card throughout the process, I used it to store images and video which I had filmed. I first used my own one here to take the pictured needed for my Animatic storyboard. It was good as it allowed me to put my footage straight unto the computer. however I could not store all my pictures and videos on it as it was only 16mb, therefore stuff I uploaded to the computer had to be deleted off the SD card after. Which would not have been good had I lost the footage.
  • Photoshop

    Photoshop
I have used photoshop throughout the year to edit work and pictures, especially to edit my Digipak and poster images, however I first used it here to edit the count Vaseline logo so I could use it in my music video. Photoshop has a huge number of photo editing techniques and is very good for it. However again like premier pro it can crash often and so again it is best to save regurlaly so work is not lost.
  • Adobe Illustrator

    Adobe Illustrator
I used Adobe Illustrator to further improve my edited count Vaseline Logo, the program gives lots of helpful devices which let you turn the image you have made into a logo ready to use. For example I vectored the image meaning I could change the size without the quality of the picture changing. However again like Photoshop and premie pro I can likely crash.

    Construction of Music video

  • JVC Camera

    JVC Camera
I used the JVC camera for all of the filming of my music video. It was much better to use then the Canon Cameras as it allowed to film for prolonged periods of time, therefore allowing me to film my time lapses very effectively. The only bad thing about using this camera is the fact it is much larger than the canon camera and therefore its much more dirficult to film close ups and paning shots.
  • Hard Drive

    Hard Drive
At the start of the year I didn't have a hard drive, afte I bought one it made work much easier as I could upload more things and save more to my device. this allowed me to try out new things with the space I had. It also allowed me to put my footage on it.
  • Onedrive

    Onedrive
I used onedrive to upload word documents throughout the project. I used it most of the time to upload my feedback which was typed by people onto word. I had to use one drive as it gives you an embedded link for the document, which word does no give you normally. So without it I couldn't upload my audience and peer feedback.

    Research Print

  • Pinterest

    Pinterest
I used Pinterest to show my Mood Board for my Digipak. I used it as it allowed me to add more pictures then I would have been able to by using Thinglink. Therefore I was able to add more pictures, and more things which gave me inspiration. Plus you can add almost any picture you find to Pinterest meaning any picture that inspired my work I could put up on there
  • DaFont

    DaFont
I used DaFont to make my first font for my digipak and poster, I didn't use the font in the end but still used DaFont to access it. The website has a huge number of fonts to choose from and so is helpful when choosing a font which fits the Genre and Narrative of the music video, and so will fit nicely on the front cover.

  • InDesign

    InDesign
I used InDesign lots in the construction of my Preliminary product, as I had to lay out my Digipak so that I could print it off into an actual Digipak. It is useful as it allows you to see what the finished product looks like, and so you can get an idea of what it will be like wen done. However there are lots of restrictions to do with it, as you cant upload certain pictures, and it is difficult to put them in the right places

  • Slideshare

    Slideshare
I used slideshare to upload my final digipak design, I used it to look at each panel and give an in depth look at the steps I took to get from my final feedback and mock up, to my final design. Slideshare is very helpful as it allows to upload powerpoint documents which are hard to upload. Onedrive is the only other way but it can be unreliable and untrustworthy, unlike Slideshare.
