    Ruler of Egypt repays his loans
    The ruler of Egypt could not repay his loans that he used for the canal and olther projects. Also, the way he pa\id his depts was by selling his shares in the canal which the British bought gaining control interest of the canal.

    Avoiding bloodshed, the European powers met up at the international conference. It took place in Berlin, Germany, not Africa, so Africans were not invited.

    The British expanded their influence in Malaya. In Singapore, the busy port grew at the southern tip of the peninsula. The natural resources and profits from Asian trade went through Singapore to Britain.

    Broke out between Spain and the United States over Cuba's attempt to win their independence from Spain. American battleships destroyed the Spanish fleet that was stationed in the Philippines. Rebel soldiers threw their support to help defeat the Spanish. In return, the rebels expected tthe Americans to recognize their independence.

    A group of Chinese made a secret group society which was called the Righteous Harmonious Fists. They watch them train in martial arts. The goal for the group was to drive out the 'foreign devils' that polluted their land with un-Chinese ways. For example, adding strange buildings, machines, and telegraph lines.

    Birth of a Republic
    Was an uprising in 1911 where provinces spread swiftly. The peasants, students, local warlords, and court politicians all helped with the topple of the Qing Dynasty. Also, when Sun Yixian was named the president of the brand new Chinese republic which helped with more power.
