    Brown v. Board was a Supreme Court Case that made separate schools for different races, unconstitutional. It directly conflicted with the Plessy v. Ferguson case that stated that separate facilities for different races was legal as long as the facilities were equal.

  • Elementary and Secondary Education Act

    Elementary and Secondary Education Act
    Elementary and Secondary Act was passed by Lyndon B. Johnson to ensure that students with disabilities could receive funding for elementary and secondary school. The law was to guaranteed that all students would receive the education they all deserved. On December 10, 2015 President Obama reauthorized it and its now the Every Student Succeed Act. link text

    Section 504 of Rehabilitation Act
    The 504 act was a law that protected the rights of people with disabilities who does not qualify for Special Education. Under this law a students doesn't need an IEP to recieve modifications and accommodations from the school and their teachers. link text
  • The Education for All Handicapped Children Act

    The Education for All Handicapped Children Act
    EHA gave free and approirate eduction to students ages 5-21. EHA also guaranteed that students individual educational needs must be met. This act also made it a rule for IEP's to be based on a multi-disciplinary assessment. Link text

    Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
    IDEA was created to replace Education Of Handicapped Act. This act made it that students with disabilities are able to receive their teaching in a classroom with students without disabilities. The time a child should be placed in special education class is if the child had a severe disability. link text
  • No Child Left Behind Act

    No Child Left Behind Act
    NCLB was suppose to be an updated version of Elementary and Secondary Education Act, but this law was stricter on who the responsibility of the child's success was on. NCLB said that if a child wasn't successful that is was the fault of the state and school. Under this law all students must be tested in math and reading and the school is held accountable for how all student perform. link text
