Period: to
"I love you forever"
My mother read the same book to me almost every night before bed from age 1-5. It was called, "I love you forever" by Robert Munsch. It was one of the first books I read through "memorization" before actually being able to read the words. -
Period: to
"Pre-K and my easel"
I remember my favorite thing about pre-k was being able to paint on the easel. I was allowed to paint whatever I wanted and still have vivid images of doing so. -
Period: to
"Family Entertainment"
From age 5-10, I would always put on plays for my family. I would make them up in my head or do an improv act. I remember loving to make people laugh. I would also put on my favorite songs and dance and sing for them and they were my "audience". -
Period: to
"1st Communion"
I was asked to read a passage from the gospel for our 1st communion mass. The week before the mass, every night before bed I practiced my reading because I was so nervous on messing up. -
Period: to
"The play girl"
I was one of the only girls in my grade to be involved in plays. I never did a play for our school, I did them with a club outside of school. I remember my first play was high school musical and I had the role of the teacher. I did about 3 plays and then I quit. -
Period: to
"I hate Diagramming"
My 8th grade year the only thing we did was diagram sentences. I have never thought more about sentence structure in my life and I hated it. -
Period: to
"Goodbye Letter"
My dad was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and passed away October of 2008. My counselor and mother thought it would be a good idea if i wrote/gave him a letter stating it would be okay if he passed away and how strong I would be. That was the first time I wrote about something that I didn't believe. -
Period: to
"Transition Phase"
My freshman year and throughout my years of high school I remember writing being my least favorite thing to do. I hated how formatted and scripted our papers had to be. We stopped doing free writing and more preparation of research papers. I was very disorginzed when writing and putting my thoughts togethers, so I got poor grades. This made me hate writing more. -
Period: to
"Cheerleader"
I was on the football and basketball cheerleading team in highschool. I had to memorize a lot of cheers, and dances. It was something I loved to do. -
Period: to
"Jodi Picoult"
I was a "book worm". My favorite author was Jodi Picoult. I would get in trouble in class for reading constantly. If I was hooked on a good book there was no way of dragging my attention elsewhere. -
Period: to
"Introduction to opinion papers"
My senior year of highschool we had to write opinion papers on any topic we wanted. This was when i began to like writing again because there was no right or wrong opinion and it was our free thoughts. -
Period: to
"The old college try"
I had to take English for my Gen Ed's and I had an amazing teacher who worked with me a lot on how to organize my thoughts when writing. When she gave us writing assignments they were unique and always aligned with our interest and not hers.
