  • Going to the Bookstore with Poppy

Going to the Bookstore with Poppy
My Poppy would take me on a trip in Philly at the Barnes and Noble downtown. He would give me free reign of the store, I'd buy a gigantic pile of books, and then we'd go to his house and read together.
  • Harry Potter with Mom

    Harry Potter with Mom
My mom and I would "go to Hogwarts" every night, reading my all-time favorite series before bed.
  • Learning to Code

    Learning to Code
A friend in my third grade class told me to try Neopets, which fascinated me. Through that site, I learned to code HTML, and eventually created my own websites and graphics. I eventually branched out to Java, Photoshop, etc.
  • Vinyl with Dad

    Vinyl with Dad
My Dad taught me how to play his vinyl collection around the age of 9 or 10, and he and I would sit in the living room, listening over and over to Led Zeppelin, Bowie, The Beatles, The Stones, Dylan, The Who, etc. We would listen for hours, and talk and talk about the songs--the lyrics, the stories of how the songs were written. My dad is not much of a reader, but I would read book after book about the albums we listened to.
