  • Rocket Summer

    Rocket Summer
    A town in Ohio is in the middle of winter. The cold is suddenly interupted with a heat wave and the ice and snow begin to melt. The citizens of this town look to the sky to see red flames from a large rocket.
  • Ylla

    Ylla is a martian woman who lives with her husband Yll. Ylla tells Yll about some strange dreams shes been having about aliens landing and taking her away. Yll dismisses this as nonsense and gets frustrated when Ylla keeps talking about it.
  • The summer night

    Children are singing songs in a town on mars. They decide on singign a song that they are unsure where it came from. They sing the song and some older martians ask them where they heard it.
  • The Earth Men

    A second expedition of humans goes to mars after the dissapearance of the first expedition. The Earth men go talk to several different martians and eventually end up in an assylum after speaking to Mr. X. Mr. X thinks they are insane so he shoot the entire crew of Earthlings and then kills himself.
  • The taxpayer

    The taxpayer is about a man who comes up to the gat of the launch pad and yells about wanting to go to mars. He is then escorted off the property by the police.
  • The Third Expedition

    In this chapter a third group of humans go to mars. They arrive on mars and discover that it is a lot like earth. After looking around a bit they conclude that its actually illinois in the past. The astronauts see their deceased loved ones which are actually the martians. The martians pretend to be the deceased and use this to kill the earth men. They then have a funeral similar to a human funeral.
  • And the moon be still as bright

    In this chronicle there is a group of Earth Men sent to mars that discover that all the Martians are dead and their towns are empty. One man decides that Humans being there will destroy the beauty of mars and decides to shoot up his expidition group. He shoots a few people and then he talks to the captain about why he did it. The Captain later shoots the man in the chest.
  • The Settlers

    This chapter explains why people begin to flock to Mars. They leave everything behind in Earth just to make a journey to Mars. It also describes what it looks like to travel away from Earth.
  • The Green Morning

    A man nearly passes out after arriving on Mars and is nearly sent home. He decides that there isnt enoug Oxygen so he decides he is going to plant trees. He goes out to plant the seeds and after planting many seeds it rains for a few hours. This rain causes the trees to grow full sized very quickly.
  • The Locusts

    This chapter is about the change that Mars is undergoing. More and more people flock to Mars and leave Earth behind. Everything that is foreign to the Humans is changed into something more Earth like and it is ceasing to look like it once looked.
  • Night meeting

    Tomas is an old man who moved to Mars to retire and relax. Tomas meets a martian named Muhe Ca and they talk. They go to make physical contact but they cannot touch eachother. Each one concludes the other is a ghost and the Martian does not believe his people are all dead. After this meeting they go their own ways.
  • The shore

    A look into the waves of people coming to Mars and how the planet Mars is transformed quickly into a very Earthlike planet. Earth is at war and Americans flee to Mars to start their new lives in peace.
  • The Fire Balloons

    Priests go to Mars as missionaries to "save" the Martians. They meet the mayor of the first time who tells them that there are two species of Martian. The priests go to look for the blue sphere species. They almost die multiple times but the blue spheres save them. When they talk to the spheres the spheres tell them they arent capable of sin as they don't have a body.
  • Interim

    This chapter is a short chapter where the Humans take rare endangered trees and use the wood from those trees to build houses on Mars. The town is described to be almost identical to some small American towns.
  • The naming of names

    The places of signifigance are named after the rescources or events that occured there. The sites of the previous expeditions are now named.
  • Usher 2

    A man left Earth to build the house of his dreams. His house is made entirely in the image of pieces of literature, primarily Poe. The Government comes to tell him it will be destroyed so he kills them with excerpts from stories. The house then sinks into the bog like the original house of Usher.
  • The Old Ones

    This chapter describes the migration of the elderly from Earth to Mars. The "Dried up prune people" decide to uproot their lives on Earth and choose to start anew on Mars
  • The Martian

    There is an elderly couple living on Mars who had lost their son back on Earth. One night after being awoken at night from a noise at the door the husband finds their dead son Tom. They take Tom to town despite his protest and he starts to manifest the deceased loved ones of everyone in town. They eventually all chase him down and his face melts away and he dies due to an overload of his "powers".
  • The luggage store

    In a luggage store on Mars the owner of the store and a priest talk about the war that breaks out on Earth. The owner can't believe it but the father talks of wars in China when he was younger. The father says people will soon flock to Earth to see relatives.
  • The Offseason

    In this chapter the Owner of a hotdog stand on Mars named Sam Parkhill kills a Martian who was pulling a message out of his pocket. After burying the Martians a group of Martians come to him but he runs. When he finally stops he begs for his life but the Martians give him ownership of half the land on Mars.
  • The Watchers

    In this chapter there was an explosion on Earth that was visible from Mars. An entire section of the Earth was engulfed in flames. There was then a transmition from Earth telling the Martians to come home.
  • The Silent Towns

    A man who lived in isolation makes a trip to a town but discovers everyone is gone. He starts calling any number that might get him in touch with a woman and he eventually does. He meets up with her to discover shes fat and a little bit obsessive. He runs away from her and falls into depression but he wont give up.
  • The Long Years

    The Archaeologist from the fourth expedition lives with his family on Mars. They are stuck there alone and wait for people to come and get them. Eventually the old captain of the fourth expedition shows up after returning from the planets past jupiter. Hathaway then has heart issues and dies and it is then discovered that his family died years ago and his current family was a group of robots.
  • There will come soft rain

    This chapter is of a house on Earth that is abandoned but automated so it continues to perform its daily routine even though there are no humans. A dog enters the house and dies of rabies. The robot mice then take it to the incinerator. There is a tree that falls on the house and fire then consumes the structure despite the effort of the robots. The house is no more and there are no longer any houses in the area.
  • The million year picnic

    There is one family left on Earth after the destruction of the Earth. They get on their Rocket to head to Mars and arrive to be the only family on Mars. They are unsure if others will arrive but the father promised his oldest son to go see Martians. They walk to a nearby river where the father points at their reflection as says "There are the Martians".
