    Mercury-Redstone 1 Failure-unmanned
    The rocket only lifted about 4 inches off the ground, then went right back down. The escape rocket parachute deployed, but the rocket stayed intact. Mercury-Redstone 1 did not explode, it just did not lift off. The cause of the failure was that some of the electrical cords were in the wrong order. This was the first Mercury Rocket lift-off.

    The Gemini was already in space and had already docked with the Agena. The spacecraft suddenly started to roll, and when Armstrong did everything he could, it still didn't stop rolling.     An oxygen tank exploded causing the astronauts to have lack of power, lack of water, lack of food, not much removal of carbon dioxide, and discomfort. They had a good few days before the explosion. They didn't know how they would get home without any power, but Flight Control helped them and they landed safely in the Pacific Ocean, fine, but they lost 31 pounds together total!
